Panty Snatching In the News
Story From the Bangkok Post 2005-04-21
Nakhon Ratchasima: — A panty snatcher has kept dozens of women up late at night guarding underwear put out to dry on washing lines. Police have tried lying in wait near clotheslines specially decorated to catch the thief, but he has proved elusive. Pol Maj-Gen Seksan Boonpharatchakorn, of Pak Thong Chai police station, said the culprit must be a member of the local community as he seems to know his way around. The thefts have been going on for about three months in San Ta Poo community on Thepthongchai road. Women have lost underwear, pyjamas, sarongs and even spaghetti-strap blouses. Pol Maj-Gen Seksan said investigators have been sent to second-hand clothing shops but found nothing suspicious. Many women now prefer to stay up and wait for their belonging to dry before going to bed, he said. Some have even hung a paper sign on their laundry lines telling the thief to return the items.
