February 13, 2006 at 12:49 am #6151Delicious_JessMemberHey hun,
There’s not much happening at the mo’ on the payment processor front. We’re all kind of at a loss since Nochex and PPPay got rid of us.
There’s Greenzap and Alertpay but both are in the early-ish stages, not widely accepted and have a few problems attached to them. There’s been a few posts on them in the forum so have a peep about and see what you can dig up so far.
There’s a few options potentially on the horizon but it’s just a matter of sitting it out and waiting at them mo. I’m down to a PO BOX and maybe online banking. Stormpay is a U.S option too but I really know nothing about the ones I’ve mentioned as I’ve never used them myself.
Hope you have some luck hun.
Love Jess xxxxFebruary 13, 2006 at 1:14 am #6154slutnpantys_hoseMemberThanks Jess! Guess im down to using the P.O.Box also.Lynn
February 13, 2006 at 5:22 pm #6197darkhairedkarenMemberI read a thread on Ebanned about Stormpay closing its doors or something. Might want to steer clear of them unless you can verify they are still up and running. 🙁
February 25, 2006 at 4:34 am #6335AnonymousGuestA friend of mine told me about… http://www.gottapay.com/ I just set up my acct. today so I am not exactly sure how it is going to work. From what I read, it is adult friendly and deserves checking into.

March 3, 2006 at 12:19 am #6475AnnaMemberHi
We’re looking at Bank Transfer as the only option . We rejected the idea of a PO Box because we were concerned that anyone can get our home address from the Royal mail just by asking!! What happened to Data Protection ? mad
Has anyone had privacy problems with PO Boxes? Are they a good alternative?Â
March 14, 2006 at 4:27 pm #6721kellyamiinaMemberhi anna 🙂
did you actually find out for sure that royal mail give out details of PO BOX owners, or was it just something you were worried about may happen? I was considering opening one..but wont if people that use it can get hold of my details!March 14, 2006 at 4:32 pm #6722kellyamiinaMemberhi bernadette 🙂
did you start to use gottapay yet? i just had a look and signed up but not quite sure how it works as i havent had to give any bank details as u would with paypal etcMarch 14, 2006 at 5:53 pm #6723AnnaMemberHi Kelly
Have a look at http://www.royalmail.co.uk. Look under Disclosure of information, they state:
‘We reserve the right in all cases to give the address of the PO Box holder, should it be requested.’
From that I’m assuming that means anyone, so as you can see I’m not keen.
In another thread, Cindy mentioned that she asks the buyer to send a cheque direct to her bank’s head office with her account details. The Abbey always process them. So that’s a viable option for us.Â
In the same thread Lisa B tells about a payment processor option that may be available to us soon.
Hope this helps

March 14, 2006 at 6:16 pm #6727darkhairedkarenMemberYou could always have a trusted friend with his/her own small business (or a guy friend) rent out the box for you…Â You just pay the fees and use it as your own.Â
March 14, 2006 at 9:09 pm #6729kellyamiinaMemberwell 3 hours later ive finished reading that lot!! :cheer: and…call me stupid if u like but this bank transfer thing..how exactly do u mean? I mean is it like the customer just pays money straight from there bank account to yours..for example, i sometimes just transfer money into my sisters account if i owe her ( most weeks!!) by just puttin in her sort code account number etc onto my online banking…but obviously that involves giving out my details to the customer..and also my full name, does it not? sorry if that didnt make sense at all///but i know what i meant ( i think)
is that what u emanby a bank transfaer or am i just totally confused? :huh:March 14, 2006 at 10:00 pm #6735AnnaMemberI know exactly what you mean. Bank Transfer seems to be a term used for 2 entirely different things.
Bank Transfer is something you would use with international buyers, you would provide your sort code, bank account no. and IBAN number (you can find this on your statement – it’ll begin with GB then a long number – which is actually your sort code and a/c no.) The MASSIVE drawback is that the buyer may have to pay a large fee approx $30 in US – this is to do with processing currency. Check with your buyer. I’m assuming this will also be the case in Europe.
If your buyer is in UK then there is no prob with currency in which case they can do exactly as you do with your sister. All you need to provide is your sort code, a/c no and name of a/c holder…first inital and surname should be sufficient. They can pay online or at the counter with that info. This isn’t strictly a Bank Transfer, this is what is referred to as a BACS transfer. The principle is that you set BACS up for regular transfers but you can do it as a one off. I do the same to pay back my parents ) more importantly – NO CHARGE to buyer or seller.Â
If buyer doesn’t want to do that then ask them to send a cheque to your bank’s head office, as previously mentioned.
Hope this helps

March 14, 2006 at 10:15 pm #6737kellyamiinaMemberso giving out your surname, sort code and acc number is reasonably safe?
March 14, 2006 at 10:21 pm #6739AnnaMemberWell unless you want to post them out for free 😉 lmao
The most anyone can get from those details is your surname and maybe what branch you use. The sort code indicates your branch. The bank won’t give out any other details and unless you have some bizarre name, there will be hundreds of people with your surname in your locality, just check the phone book.
Alternatively just ask for cash or cheque and ask to use a male friend’s address.
Or use international buyers only, not much chance that they will fly or sail to stalk you lmao
By the way, if you send a parcel international and have to put a return address either use a dummy one or put the postcode of your local post office – it’s all above board.
To put it all into perspective, statistics show that women are harrassed, assaulted, murdered etc by people they know – usually exes.
Hope this helps
