It’s been tough getting people to buy initially. What’s the best way to go about gettnig people to come by the site and make a purchase…..it’s easy to get lookers, but takers seem to be much harder….
anybody have some advice…hard work isn’t a problem, it’s smart work that’s the issue…
Share ideas..I’m sure we’d all love to learn…

LouiseApril 26, 2005 at 7:12 am #2143Cindy_PantyParadiseMemberIts not an overnight thing.? It takes patience and practise and trust.? I have had a couple of websites now over the last few years and its only been the last 2 years where Panty Paradise really took off. (My first sites consisted of free geocities sites, I then bought mypanties4u.co.uk then PantyParadise – just in case you were curious).
There isnt any secret – it mainly boils down to your experience, how you come accross and if you really enjoy what you do (believe me, if you don’t enjoy it, your clients will know) and then of course TRUST.? You then start having repeat customers and then “word of mouth” spreads so to speak. Many new clients come to me saying they were recommended by a friend believe it or not 🙂
I can tell you what I do and I how run my site until Im blue in the face but its not going to help you or your site to be honest – knowlege is one thing but wisdom is something that only comes from experience.? Plus we are all different and all have different ways in working and dealing with people, and of course we have different boundaries and limits.
Just hang in there, advertise in magazines, or google ad-words.? I spent a lot of money on doing this at the start and it did help to bring in a few sales.
Sometimes you need to make a loss to make a profit.

lol, that’s comforting because I’m there already!=)Â It’s good to know that you’ve been around for a while and you’re still doing this!! There is hope to enjoy this and make it worthwhile…!!Thanks for the response…I think more than anything it’s just nice to know there’s people here who know what it’s like!!

April 26, 2005 at 7:49 am #2145Cindy_PantyParadiseMemberWell this time of year is probably the slowest anyway because the holiday season is starting and most people like to do other things as the warm weather starts.? Panty selling is very strange.? Its almost like its all or nothing.? Even now I could go for a week without a sale but the following week I get 10!? Its crazy sometimes, but thats what I still love – the excitement and spontaneity!
It certainly beats going to work at a desk shuffling paper all day long working for some dumb assed boss who expects you work through your lunch break and until late at night without overtime!
Oh and Louise – you really are not alone in what you are doing – we have all been there, done that – some are still doing it and some have even bought the t-shirt 🙂 … so just be patient and go with the flow – dont be too desperate to make a sale either, as that puts people off -just be your cheery self 🙂
.. and advertise – even make some cards or flyers and go round a fetish exhibition or the like.? Contact Fetish Clubs, ask to swop links or put a card in their window – just try every idea that comes to mind 😉

April 26, 2005 at 1:03 pm #2146AnonymousGuestI don’t own a site as I’m homed at eBare but I think the concept is about the same.
I do think that people take a certain amount of comfort in seeing a home made site where the pictures aren’t lined up perfectly, tables are a little dodgy and the girl on the pics roots should maybe have been topped up a couple of weeks back! I think defined sites with beautiful women are maybe unfairly the first casualty of Panty selling because they have a harder job to prove themselves.
I think it’s personality that sells. I had a fantasticly busy week last week while everyone else was saying it was quiet but I’d had to do a lot of leg work for it, a lot of emails and a lot of custom photos! 😛 Have you thought about sending your girls to do some of the leg work outside of the site? I mean maybe just doing what you are and chatting on boards or host an auction? Maybe that way people will get to know one particular girl and become a loyal follower.
I know it’s not for everyone but posting an auction with a pair of panties for sale and your link on the ad seems to help. They get to buy and be made aware of your site at the same time. It’s not a long term thing but it spreads the word, even some of my customers only buy from an auction once or twice then deal direct. eBare.co.uk lets you list for free and only charge a small amount if it sells. You post as many links as you like as long you return the favour. Hey, it works for me!
April 26, 2005 at 7:09 pm #2147wantmypantiesMemberI agree with you about the homemade sites….it’s tough convinving people that it’s not a sham or a ploy from commercial companies when it’s slick and the “photos are lined up” as you said…lol
The auction method is tricky for me since there are so many auction sites and mostly based in the UK (and not Canada/US). I might look into running a mini auction on the site or a best offer idea.
The great thing about this business is the loyalty. I’m glad both of you have loyal customers…I’m sure I’ll find a few soon…
Thanks so much, i’m loving this discussion!!
April 27, 2005 at 10:28 am #2151Dave WalesMemberHey Louise
I just had a quick look at your site and to be blunt would never buy anything from it.
It looks like a ‘professional’ site with lots of models and does not have a ‘hook’ to keep you clicking. To me it looks dubious.
I hope you are not offended it is only my opinion.
Good luck.Dave
April 27, 2005 at 1:11 pm #2152AnonymousGuestI don’t think there’s such a thing as bad feedback. My customers can critise away and I’ll always say Thank you because it’s an honest opinion that helps me, not that anyone’s complained yet. (Don’t even think about complaining you ungrateful lot!! LOL)
I’m still quite small customer wise, but that’s still good. It means I can pamper the people I have, send freebies, lots of mails and generally spend that bit longer with them. I can really see what Cindy means by making a loss first.
I can kind of see what Dave was getting at. Maybe making your home page a bit more interactive would help make it more inviting? It’s a nice home page but it’s more about info than intriging people to carry on exploring. Cindys home page is the best example i’ve seen so far. There’s loads of info and updates without there being paragraphs of writing you’ll get bored of reading after a couple of lines.
I always find pics are a great way to lure people in too! They’re only human after all!! Ditching Paypal was a great move. Adult sites with Paypal always make me raise a suspicious eyebrow

Cindys home page is the best example i’ve seen so far. There’s loads of info and updates without there being paragraphs of writing you’ll get bored of reading after a couple of lines.hehehe .. thanks Champers .. I just have alot to say and I do worry that the page takes ages to load for some 🙂 .. however though, whether you have alot to say or not, it is always good to interact a bit with your clients, have a little fun, encourage them to contact you and to browse because that is the first step to building up trust.
Louise … now Im speaking honestly here .. the pic of the woman with a mic on her head kills it – perhaps replace it with a pic of you or one of your girls faces smiling at the camera or blowing a kiss – at the moment it kind of gives an impression that potential clients would be treated like a number more than a person.
Get some personal touches in there, more personal info and a bit more interactivity and Im sure it will kick off 🙂 .. basically the more “hidden” you are, the more your visitors will hide from you too.
Its a two way thing – like Champers says – pamper your visitors and especially your clients, make them feel truly welcome and let them browse and have some fun on your site and gain their trust 🙂

April 27, 2005 at 4:06 pm #2156Cindy_PantyParadiseMemberIdea for Louise 🙂
How about on the front page you have pictures of all the girls who are selling on your site with links to their own pages.
On each of the girls pages at the top you could have all the pics of the other girls too so that the browsers can hop between them.
That way browsers can actually see real girls whom they can choose from – and it makes it a bit more fun and interactive .. and it allows each of your girls to have more of a say in what they do, like, dont do, hobbies, interests etc etc

April 27, 2005 at 8:43 pm #2157wantmypantiesMemberWOW….=)
Let’s see if I can do this without forgetting what I’m talking about…
Dave – thanks for the feedback, anything that is constructive is always a good thing…otherwise how would i know or be able to make any changes….!
Pink – thanks for the tips…after the horror stories of PayPal on almost every site I’ve seen and all the advice here, I finally came to my senses….one day maybe we’ll have the option to use the top payment method without everyone making a fit about it.
I’m going to have to talk to me web guy and see if he can make a few alterations for me…real pictures on the front page makes sense…
The dilemna I run into is trying to be professional in the business aspect without looking too professional looking to the customer. I guess only time and tweaking little things here and there will give me the best solution….Cindy – hmm…point taken, i think you’re right about that mic image. I’ll see what i can do about that!!
After browsing through a lot of sites, I see how much information is out there….I started doing the same, but it takes a bit of time to personalize each page….i was thinking of addnig a blog section to give some updates and add that “personal touch” you’re all talking about..=)Â I also have forums, but until they start picking up, they don’t add anything to the site…
I’m going to look into having a permanent link to all the different girls on the site so it’s not so hard to find out who you’re looking for…
you simplify things very well…”the more hidden you are the more your visiitors will hide from you too”
That makes a lot of sense….you girls are awesome…i love this community….makes you wonder how much better business would be if it were always filled with women…. 😉
Cheers,
LouiseApril 28, 2005 at 2:50 am #2158SuzieMoonshoeMemberHi Louise 🙂
I thought I’d put in my two pennies worth!? I’ve not been around that long, my site has been online just under 3 months.? To begin with I honestly did wonder if there was room for an amateur panty girl because things were verrrry quiet!? about 10 weeks ago I began to get e-mails with just questions, then about a month ago all of a sudden I had about 5 big orders within a few days and it went on from there.? I’ve now had so many requests for ‘other’ items that I’m having to completely update my site to accommodate them.
Some of the best advice I was given was to really look after and take care of my customers.. even people who were just asking and not buying.? I now see this seems to be unwritten panty law? :cheer:
It has been hard work.. Since I put my site online almost every single night I’ve been at the computer for hours at a time.? Either working on my site, photo sessions or hunting for links.. but I’m enjoying every minute of it.. I’ve met some wonderful people and I’ve had some of the sexiest e-mails ever (and I thought I did good on sexy e-mails! lol) I’m sure the longer you’re here the more you’ll love it.. it certainly seems that way for everyone else! 😉

That is definitely one of the best bits of advice, it takes very little to be polite and caring, and those qualities DO come across to potential clients? :cheer:
Lots of good advice on this thread, and it’s really nice to see all the sellers willing to share hints and tips.? It’s what help make Panty Hog such a GREAT site.
Oh, and posting news on Panty Hog seems like a winner? 😉
November 27, 2005 at 6:47 pm #5102Cherry SatineMemberThis is a great thread
As for me appearing on the web, I only have my site on southern charms. Lately I’ve been toying with the idea of buying a domain and having a page that I design, where I can introduce myself and play around with the design a bit more, maybe be a bit more personal, and also easier to find in search engines. 🙂
Can anyone recommend one or two good online payment methods? Many guys ask me if I accept paypal and when I say no, they look for someone who does.
The best sales I do are for members of my site who have emailed back and forth a few times. It’s worth the effort for me to establish mutual trust.Â
Plus knowing something about him is exciting, and I can imagine him enjoying my panties more vividly, and we can talk about it later. Very very cool. 🙂I’m new here so hello everyone.

Can anyone recommend one or two good online payment methods? Many guys ask me if I accept paypal and when I say no, they look for someone who does.Hi Cherry Satine!
Unfortunately, there aren’t really any online payment processors that are as widely used (and easy to use) as Paypal. Even so, I advise you to resist the temptation to use them; $1000 in fines ($500 for you and $500 for the buyer) is a hefty price for breaking their rules once you get caught. Some sellers find accepting online gift certificates (Amazon, giftcertificates.com, giftcertificates.ca) is not a bad way to go, especially if you would be shopping there anyway. Ninety-nine percent of my payments end up being mailed cash or money orders. It is slow, but once someone is a repeat buyer I’ll extend a little trust and mail the goods even if the money hasn’t arrived yet… My experience is that if a buyer has been reliable in the past he is probably worth trusting… And I’m sure they appreciate getting their panties faster, too. 😉
Welcome!
Love,
Dark Haired Karen  -
