mad
I just wondered if anyone else had experienced what i did last week.
I hada guy IM me and asked me at what price i would sell my goods to him ( I presumed he could not really talk, that maybe his other half was there or he was at work) so i got back and let him know that it was £35.00for the 2 pairs inc postage.
He said fine and where should he send the cash/postal order. I gave him my home address ( I since have gotten a PO Box addy) and he also asked my full name and phone number. I gave him my details ( i know, how stupid, but we are new and are learning as we go!!)
I then had a cheque arrive 2 weeks later for £5000.00!!!! :uglystupid2:
WHY? When i emailed him and said why that amount and you have not included a return address to send the panties, he replied via email – Go and cash the cheque , I will then direct you on what to do next. I will arrive at your address and pick up the money, you can keep £50.00 as payment!!!!!!!!!!!
NO THANKS MATE. If its too good to be true – it usually is. Im not putting that through my bank!!Inland revenue would think its my profit!! Also im not having wierdos coming to my home address!! :knuppel2:
I emailed him back and said no to his instuctions and have had no emails from him since. I have also ripped up the cheque .
I dont know what to make of it all, he obviously has dodgy dealings and gets other people to cash the cheques for him and offers them £50 for their time….Who knows.
January 25, 2008 at 2:47 pm #19423AnonymousGuestIf what you’re saying is true  then I am sorry but you really are a complete :idiot2: I have been selling for nearly a year now and no-one else has EVER put such a ridiculous post on the forum.
Who in their right mind would give out their name, address, and phone number to a complete stranger over the internet, just on the promise he’d buy some panties?
You wouldn’t do that with a stranger in the street, so why would you here? Here’s a story – Recently one of my long term buyers made out he knew more about me than I had told him, the sick feeling in my stomach was unbelievable, had this guy been tricking me for the last 8 months? was he really someone I knew well? It turns out not, I am safe and thats what always has to be there for panty sellers, safety.
There is only one guy with my home details and I trust him explicitly 😉
I hope you don’t spend the next few months feeling jumpy everytime the doorbell ringsJanuary 25, 2008 at 2:53 pm #19425mikegukMemberOMG Â Lucy,

January 25, 2008 at 4:04 pm #19427Ruby RedMemberEven before I decided to sell, I knew damn well I wasn’t giving out my home address. That just doesn’t make sense. :idiot2:
I’m not sure I believe this story…I mean really, who gives out ALL their information without knowing the person? :crazy2:
We’re taught as children not to give out information to strangers or even over the phone. Bet your bottom dollar, I don’t give my credit card number or my social security number to anyone over the phone…I don’t care who it is.
Guess I’m a smart gal. 😉
January 25, 2008 at 4:51 pm #19430AnnaMemberI’ve moved this to Help and Advice for New Sellers. Better suited here I think to warn new sellers why giving out your home address is never, ever a good idea.
January 25, 2008 at 4:55 pm #19432Cindy_PantyParadiseMemberLucy you are a stupid, stupid girl. You have his cheque right, his email, perhaps his address .. GO TO THE POLICE NOW with copies of all emails and EVERYTHING .. including the cheque because this will have alot of personal info on it which the police can use!!!
This is SO dangerous!! What the fuck is wrong with you:huh:
:uglystupid2: :uglystupid2: :uglystupid2: :uglystupid2:
January 25, 2008 at 5:39 pm #19434adminKeymasterFrom her post, I think Lucy realizes that what she did was very dangerous and I hope that when she comes back, she remembers when reading the very point blank responses that people here just want sellers and her to be safe.
Unfortunately, situations like Lucy’s are likely to crop up as new sellers get bad information on other panty boards. I found the thread on another site that user jibjab was talking about here in our forums earlier. The place, “that which shall not be named” :cheer: is known here at Panty Hog for
stealing our Panty Talk Forums title and spamming all of our members several times even going so far as to create multiple accounts after banning. Anyway, there are some supposed buyers over there that are insisting that sellers provide complete contact details including name, address, and telephone numbers to buyers. A couple of sellers over there who weren’t born yesterday posted that this demand was insane, and were quickly ripped apart as frauds hiding some dirty secret. Seasoned sellers likely read a thread like that and just laugh it off as silliness, but I can imagine that a new seller wanting to make a good impression and get that first sale may be duped into to taking the advice of these morons. The bottom line is that sellers, or anyone on the net for that matter, should be very careful with their personal details. The nuts and crazies you hear about are out there, and I bet many who have had them show up at their door never thought it would happen to them. If someone won’t buy your panties without your full name, address, and telephone number, kindly tell them to stick their head up their ass and move on. In over 20 years of involvement in the used panty fetish community, I can assure you that despite what those idiots over there are saying, giving out your complete details is in no way the norm, it is, as people have said here, stupid and dangerous.
How does a buyer then know that a seller is legit? Feedback, reputation, and getting to know the seller through discussion on boards like this, using our video chatroom, auction feedback, etc. Yes, unfortunately, it starts out slow for a new seller as she is building up feedback and a good reputation, but it is better than having some nut show up at your house to slit your neck. Don’t forget Panty Trust either, sellers can safely share their information with Panty Trust who then will vouch for you as a seller eliminating the need to convince a new buyer everytime, you can send them right to your page there where you are already holding up a sign, confirmed to be real, etc.
This advice is good for buyers too. Research the seller a bit before buying and read what she posts, etc. If you are not completely comfortable, start with a small order to test the waters first instead of shelling out $250 on your first order from a new seller. If things don’t go right, post in the panty forums, word spreads quickly in the panty community. It may be macho and manly to say that you want a seller’s address so you can go over and kick someone’s ass if you aren’t happy with the product. I don’t care how big you are, the nut cases work both ways, if you show up at the address you were given and are greeted by some suicidal freek or group who shoots first, your last thought before your lights go out for good will probably be that you wished you’d never seen that address.
Luckily, honesty, especially here around the Panty Hog community, is the norm so don’t get scared away from selling or buying, just be careful and use good sense.
January 25, 2008 at 6:54 pm #19435bbwlucy27MemberI know, I know, and Yes it was stupid and i deeply regret it. :idiot2:
Like i said we are so new to this, we didn’t do our homework very well and i only discovered panty hog last week.
Its not a joke i did give him my details, BUT i didnt give my REAL name, the cheque arrived with the made up name i had given him on it. I can change my mob number but unfortunately cannot change my address, i know.
I will be going to the police, yes :police:
Im so glad i have found panty hog as the advice is just fantastic on here and im sorry ive made you all mad at me allready 😥
We have learnt from our mistake, but like you said, i will probably jump each time the door knocks now and its my own fault.
Im sorry some of you thought this was a ridiculous post, but it is true and i thought that this guy might be sending dodgy cheques so i just thought i would warn you. Again i do apologize ive annoyed you all. I honestly thought that you gave out your address for payment to be sent to.
:embarassed:
January 25, 2008 at 6:59 pm #19436Cindy_PantyParadiseMemberOh hun .. I think our reactions were more utter shock, I realised my post was harsh and I am sorry … the terror that this has caused you I couldn’t even start to imagine it and I was angry that any guy could even do that to you.
I really hope the police do something and manage to catch this guy. I fear for you, I really do and despite our ranting and raving and hopping up and down, we ARE here for you.

January 25, 2008 at 7:01 pm #19438bbwlucy27MemberThank you, i appreciate you being here for us.
I haven’t slept well since this happened last week and i am sooo worried. I hope the police can help as the cheque has all his bank details on and account number. :police:
I feel like shit about it all. :embarassed:
January 25, 2008 at 7:02 pm #19439jazzyMemberHonesty is the Best policy.
This applies to buyers and sellers.
All first time buyers/sellers are so eager for that first order they sometimes are so excited their common sense leaves them.
Set out all your rules and stick by them with every order.
Some bad buyers will slag off some sellers and vice versa.
Panty Trust and satisfied buyers with good feedback is the way to go,try and treat everyone as your best friend and i’m sure things will soon take off and the better you do the more you will be praised.just my opinion. 🙂

January 25, 2008 at 7:40 pm #19440FetishKittenMemberThat was a really very silly thing to do.
And you realise it, which is good…and I hope you’ll do as you say and never be so stupid again. You may want to be really careful with your site.
My partner took literally 5 seconds to find your full name and address.
You PO box will also be traceable. If you are with Royal mail they are allowed to divulge your personal details to anyone that asksJanuary 25, 2008 at 8:16 pm #19441MidwestsweetieMemberThis type of thing is going all around the internet. From what I gather is they give you the bogus check and have you take the money out for it and as a reward you get a cut. Then a few days later the check bounces and your $#$@#ed. Glad you caught on before something really bad happened.

I don’t know if you can take your address off now though 🙁

I don’t know if you can take your address off now though 🙁Yes, you can. Easily.
So… has no-one wondered exactly how was the OP planning on cashing this supposed cheque having ensured that it was going to have a fake name on it…?
