How do you ladies make sure that your customers are of age?
December 19, 2008 at 7:30 pm #24497SerenaMemberNo one really can, but there are clues.. type of language, conversation topics etc..
In some countries you’d need to be over 18 to own a credit card, so maybe you could ask him to pay with one?
Trust your judgement and don’t risk it
🙂
December 19, 2008 at 8:35 pm #24498candacemoonMemberI have heard that other girls actually make the guys sign a release form. And, indeed, I have done that in the past. But I am wondering if it’s over the top or in line with what most people do…
December 19, 2008 at 8:53 pm #24499SerenaMemberIt doens’t seem silly
how does it work tho?December 19, 2008 at 9:10 pm #24500candacemoonMemberI got the form from a panty seller on SC. Basically when they contact me and are interested, I let them know they need to sign a waiver. I email it to them, and they fill out their name and info, and send it back to me. I don’t know if its legally binding, lol, its probably not. But it does seem to weed out timewasters.
December 19, 2008 at 9:22 pm #24501SerenaMemberSC?
i can’t say i know of any other panty sellers doing so on PH, but it seems like a fairly good idea.. maybe a little involved and not 100% accurate
personally, if i suspect the buyer isn’t old enough i report him and block him 🙂December 19, 2008 at 9:33 pm #24502candacemoonMemberSC is Southern Charms…it doesn’t seem accuarate, thats why I was wondering what other girls do…maybe I shouldn’t worry SO much about it…Am I being overly paranoid?? 😛
December 19, 2008 at 10:48 pm #24504SerenaMemberits nice to know you care about protecting minors, and of course yourself :y32b4:
hopefully other sellers here will have more suggestions..
xxxDecember 20, 2008 at 12:38 am #24506adminKeymasterUnfortunately, in the United States a credit card doesn’t work at all in terms of age verification. In many middle-class high schools, or even middle schools, if a kid doesn’t have their own credit card (technically it is “rider” on their parent’s card account) than the other kids consider them an outcast. Even if their parents don’t give a kid their own card they can easily sneak their parents’ card, buy a pre-paid credit card at any grocery or drug store, buy a disposable credit card online, or use their ATM/Debit card that has a Visa/MC logo on it as most do now.
Requiring them to sign a written affidavit couldn’t hurt you. You can do basically the same thing though by having them attest to being over 18 to access your web site or before they can click the buy button. This doesn’t mean they won’t lie, but it does mean that you will have proof that they intentionally misrepresented their age to you. Having proof that they gave you indication that they were of legal age will work in your favor if there is a problem.
Of course if someone gives you any indication at all that they aren’t over 18, you need to take it very seriously. If in doubt, assume they aren’t old enough. You may lose a legit adult customer in error from time to time but that is far better than giving access to a minor.

December 20, 2008 at 1:50 am #24509AnnaMemberThis article will scare the bejesus out of you all.
Under Scottish law if a child lies to you about their age and you assume they are telling the truth and engage in ‘sexy talk’ or sending pics YOU can be jailed.
Please note that some of the guys were from England, a different jurisdiction but nevertheless they were toast. Helpless toast.
December 20, 2008 at 2:19 am #24510candacemoonMemberyeah, thats what scares me…have you guys seen that dateline series, where they catch sex offenders??
December 20, 2008 at 2:53 am #24511adminKeymasterThat’s a bit different situation than what I talking about.

December 21, 2008 at 4:04 am #24522AsukaMemberHaving a customer sign an affidavit could turn even legit over 18’s away. They would need to write their real name. How many sellers would be willing to do that for their customers? We don’t know if you are over 18 either. It is a very difficult problem to solve.
December 23, 2008 at 1:00 pm #24548anniMemberJust have a warning on your index page of your website. I’m not sure if that “legally” clears you, but at least you can say they where warned.
In my case, the young ones are always obvious, but not at all often enough to have everyone sign wavers.
Good question.
