WTF is up with ebanned? I can’t get to any auctions then I get a page telling me I have to register again. After two years of being registered and buying there the whole time?! To make matters worse they have some snide remark about them hand picking which loyal users they’ll decide to let reregister?  WTF? What’s their criteria for who makes the cut? I’ve got news for somebody, if it wasn’t for buyers like me ebanned would be a fucking ghost town. Way to fucking treat your paying customers.  Sorry but I’m really pissed off.
January 10, 2006 at 8:16 am #5728chandiespantiesMemberCalm down Joe 😉 They’re doing a major update. Notices are all over the site for anyone who takes the time to look. Things will be back to normal around the 10th….
As for the snide remark. I didn’t see that anywhere either…

January 10, 2006 at 10:25 pm #5730adam007MemberI’m right with you Joe. What a damn mess over there.  All they did was switch from the makebid auction program to the phpauction program. The auction program they’ve installed is right out of the box from the phpauctions website there is nothing complicated. You just upload it to the server and away you go. I honestly don’t know what the problem is there. On the other hand we’re not behind the scenes there so who knows what problems have come up. Still, if you do the math…the fees they charge sellers times the number of auctions listed, it doesn’t take a genius to figure that owners there are pulling down a million dollars a year or more from the site. When you’ve got that kind of money why not have the new script professionally installed? Makes no sense. mad
January 11, 2006 at 5:15 am #5737joeMemberI give up on ebanned and am moving on. I’ve had enough of the mess they’ve made over there. Long time sellers have emailed me with tons of horror stories including outrageous charges for listings, lost feedbacks, auctions ending. Forget it.  Total bullshit. Last one at ebanned remember to turn the lights out.
January 11, 2006 at 6:48 am #5739KroozeMemberLOL You guys are crackin’ me up! lmao
Lemme just comment on a couple things. I know the owners of Ebanned personally so my opinions might be a little partial but I’ll try to be objective.
Even if the software was right out of the box, it’s a major change from the old software. The owners have been modifying it for quite some time and testing it out the whole time. Where the problem lies is that the data that needs to be transferred (feedback, etc.) is in a different format and must be manually converted. It will take a few days to get it all switched over.
Nobody has to reregister! The reason folks can’t get it is that their info hasn’t been transferred yet. It takes time!
Also, I guarantee they don’t make a million dollars a year! I think you need to check your math! I’ll bet they haven’t even come close to that in the 5 years the site has been open.
The worst part of this whole thing is that all the issues mentioned were predicted. Announcements were made foretelling of these problems and asking for patience while they work out the issues. Obviously some people can’t read or can’t afford to be patient for a couple days. I just don’t understand the hostility!
I don’t expect I’ve convinced anyone of anything. I just felt that the wild accusations and open hostility needed some response. It’s a shame that some people can’t be a little more understanding
January 11, 2006 at 6:54 am #5740darkhairedkarenMemberThe upgrade seems to be taking a few days, and lots of things seem out of order right now (feedbacks, fee mechanisms, etc.) Â I’m going to check back often but not post any new auctions until it looks like they have all the stuff sorted.
Ebanned is a business like any other, so whatever they are doing must be, in their estimation, to improve the site. Â Whether you or I still want to use it will be an individual decision. Â There are other ways to buy and sell panties (other auction sites, personal sites, etc.) – no one is forcing anyone to use Ebanned if s/he doesn’t want to. Â
If you want to channel your anger into something constructive you can send a private e-mail to the admins, politely letting them know your feelings and concerns. Â In the end, making the resources in the panty community better is of benefit to all of us. Â 🙂
Edited to say: I’m with Krooze – if anyone is feeling hostility I don’t understand why. Use of Ebanned is on a transaction-by-transaction basis. You pay for something, you get that item/service. That’s where any entitlement ends, until you enter into a new (one-off) transaction.
January 11, 2006 at 6:15 pm #5744chandiespantiesMemberI wouldn’t have thought that it runs into hundreds of thousands of dollars. But then again I could care less. They have a business. Businesses are intended to make money.
Yes the upgrade could have been done quicker, but the main problem has been I think the sheer volume of data that had to be manually converted.
And what does it matter if it’s down for a few days? It’s not the end of the world.
It’s been running for five years, and probably should have been updated sooner, which may have a lot to do with why it’s such a big job now.
$300 to have it done right!!! I am so LMFAO at that statement!!!
January 11, 2006 at 6:26 pm #5745ebareMemberWell, I’ve been reading this thread with interest obviously as a) we’re an adult auction site ouselves and b) we use PHPProbid.
We’ve used Probid since day one and can confirm that once they get it all up and running correctly it really is powerfull stuff and can incorporate video auctions etc etc as we have done at eBare.
It seems everyone with an auction site adult or general is changing over to probid and its not surprising as the support there is fantastic and its so user friendly.
So, give them time to get it all working right as there really is a huge amount of back-end stuff to organise especially if you are having to port databases as they are probably having to do, otherwise everyone will lose their feedback etc.
One thing having the same software as us but we hope they dont pick the same site colours as eBare otherwise buyers and sellers wont know which auction they’re on! Â :cheer:

eBareJanuary 11, 2006 at 11:36 pm #5746KroozeMemberI’m still laughing at some of the misconceptions that seem so prevelent.
I think part of the pride of ownership of Ebanned is that they have built the website from nothing by themselves. It is a successful business and their pride and joy (if you call that much hard work joy?). I’m sure part of implementing the upgrade was not only the need for improvement but the challenge of the task.
It’s very classy of you Lisab, to ask folks to be patient when it comes to your competition. Not alot of people would make the statements you made offering support.
The income comments still perplex me. Even if you do some simple math with liberal concessions, they would still never even make 100 grand a year! Figure 700 auctions per week with average listing and final auction fees totaling $2.25 for each auction. That would total $1575 per week or $81,900 per year. Alot of money but a far cry from the few hundred thousand or million per year that everyone is guessing. And that income is earned by two people!
Out of that they have to pay software subscrition fees and well as for servers and for bandwidth. It sure doesn’t sound like they’re getting rich off the site! Now figure that each of the owners puts in at least 58 hours of Ebanned related work each week, they would be making $13.77/hour before taxes!!!! Holy crap are they rich!!!!!!! LOL
It’s amazing to me that people form such negative opinions about others while making assumptions. It sure isn’t hard to figured out a ballpark number before forming an opinion.

January 12, 2006 at 6:23 am #5747BubbaTechMemberI think the problem is Communication.
When I was Tring to register, there was no communication to me as to why there was a delay, we can be understanding if whe know what the delay is, how long it will take, and we don’t miss auctions in that time frame.
if the sight was down, they should have took it off-line, and posted that all auctions that are posted will not start till the completion of the task.
then all would be fine.
no one hurt, everyone in a understanding when the sight would come back online…
just my 2 cents.
