Can someone explain how applaud/smite works
I assume if you have a good’funny point to make you get karma.
To do this you have to be a member so why does someone smite someone else—-why not discuss any issue first rather than give a black mark so to speak.
”PUZZLED”

July 26, 2005 at 5:18 pm #3048leatherznzpiceMemberHi Jazzy I’ll have a go at explaining what I think it is about 🙂
As you say there is an Applaude / Smite link against everyones user information. Only members can award or detract from karma as you say.
It’s meant as a bit of fun really, but if someone makes a areal asshat of themselves someone could smite them .. as you say we would hope they talk the issue over either by Private Message or in a discussion thread.
The Applaude is for someone who makes a good post or is just generally liked, or deserves a bit of a boost 🙂
I suspect the smiting that’s been done so far is just a bit of ‘angst’ being expressed, as you say, best to talk things over by PM before that.
And remember all you ‘smiters’ out there, the good you send out comes back to you . . as does the bad 😉
July 26, 2005 at 6:16 pm #3056darkhairedkarenMemberMaybe some of the “smite” comes from imprecise mouse clicks! :(Â
[applause for Jazzy & Leatherz!]
July 27, 2005 at 3:58 am #3068KroozeMemberI was wondering about that stuff! I was feeling a bit Karma-lized!!!!!

July 27, 2005 at 5:45 am #3069adminKeymasterLeatherz did a nice job of explaining. The Karma function is for fun. I haven’t noticed anyone with smite added. Has this happened, that is, has some evildoer**Â 😉 been freely handing out smite?
**You folks over on that side of the pond have used a few references that have flown over our heads over here. So for those not in the USA, ?evildoer? is a term freely thrown around in nearly all sentences spoken by our president. I suppose that this is my ?word of the week? for this week. It is a rather juvenile and absurd reference (in my opinion), which is probably why I enjoy using it. :cheer:
July 27, 2005 at 6:39 am #3070leatherznzpiceMemberHAHAHAHA “evildoer” I love it!! Very much a ‘Bushism’? lmao
There are a couple of folks who have been ‘smited’ probably by some ‘evildoer’ or other, or a slip of the mouse as Karen said. But we’ll keep an eye out for evildoers, because only by keeping our eyes open will we be able to see them! (damnit the Bushisms just keep appearing)? lmao
July 27, 2005 at 11:43 am #3071KroozeMemberThis is not the kind of ‘bush’ I come here to talk aout but…
I guess he uses the term ‘evildoer’ because it is more politically correct than ‘terrorist’ or something like that. Heaven knows we don’t want to offend any evildoers by calling them something they might find offensive! 😉
Which leads me back to the subject of this thread. I thought the whole ‘Karma’ thing in the forums was to show a religious tolerance. I’m glad I read this thread and got the scoop! 😉 X 2
edit to add: Notice my tongue planted firmly in my cheek? (nonstandard disclaimer)

July 27, 2005 at 1:18 pm #3072SaucySassyMemberWOW!
thats the second time this week I have heard the word evildoer!
the first was when I was watching the film Jingle all the way!
Turboman says ‘beware of evildoers’
ha!
July 27, 2005 at 4:41 pm #3075darkhairedkarenMember“Evildoer” seems appropriate, since we have so many “Supers” here at PHog!
… can’t wait until I get MY cape!!!

I thought the whole ‘Karma’ thing in the forums was to show a religious tolerance.Hey, Krooze, I guess it works for that too. We do have a religious tolerance here by the way…don’t talk about religion, and we’ll tolerate you. lmao
Seriously to all, as long as you’re into used panties your religion is your business, we’re happy to have you.
