Well, I said on my site that this forum was to take the place of the style advice section there, so it’s about damn time I started handing out the advice, eh?? Frankly, I’m a little astonished at myself that I waited this long…I just [glow=pink,2,300]looove[/glow] to give advice you see.
I am a Southern Matriarch-in-training after all
And my first bit of advice is this …don’t be afraid to make funny faces when you’re putting on your makeup.? How the hell else are you gonna get mascara on every lash?

BRANDS DON’T MATTER
If it suits you and the construction is sound, it doesn’t matter if your frock came from a couture house or a dumpster, it can still be elegant. :whistling:
BRANDS DO MATTER
When you’re wearing a pair of panties that retailed for $89, you’re gonna feel like what’s inside them is worth a million bucks.

April 24, 2005 at 6:07 am #2117cherieMemberToday’s advice is on the delicate subject of hair removal.? And my advice is:
USE NAIR.
(For non-US readers, Nair is a depilatory lotion that dissolves the hair – I don’t think ya’ll have that brand name across the pond, but you’ve certainly got something like it)
Some Mistresses will say that Nair is cheating, that you don’t get nearly as good of results as with shaving.? I say hogwash!? Nair is better for boys because it allows the hair to grow in finer, unlike with razors, and it makes it a heck of a lot easier to do a good job on those hard-to-reach places.? Like your back.
Don’t use it on any really sensitive areas though (penis, balls, perineum) cause it’s liable to cause nasty chemical burns.? I’m afraid you’re stuck using a razor for those bits? 😉

I’m sure NAIR is available over this side of the pond .. not that I’ve used it? :cheer:
And as for razors, yeah that’s a good way to trim yourself, or you could go for a wax ‘Back, Sack and Crack’ treatment? OUUUCH
July 30, 2005 at 12:00 am #3106cherieMemberToday’s advice falls into the category of advanced makeup tips.? To get a more opaque, more intense color with your eyeshadow, apply it with a wet brush.
This trick works particularly well with shimmery colors and pastel shades.
You can use plain water, but it’s said that using visine helps the shadow to stay put longer;? I always use visine.

Cherie .. what is visine?? is it like vaseline?

xxHi Cindy,
Sorry, I know the question was for Cherie, but since I happened by first…
Visine is an over the counter medication for your eyes. It is a clear liquid dispensed as an eye drop. It helps to clear up blood shot tired or allergy irritated eyes, as well as “dry eyes” caused by wind, dust, etc.

August 17, 2005 at 5:16 pm #3362cherieMemberSpot on, Your Highness!? And thanks :-)?
Cindy, you know the little well in the eyeshadow compact where the useless always-too-small applicator resides?? I use that for the visine trick – squirt a little visine (or water, or whatever) in there and use it to get your brush really saturated, then moosh it around in the eyeshadow until it’s loaded with a kind of eyeshadow paste, which you then stroke on to your eyelids.? You can also put the fluid directly on the shadow, but I don’t like to do this.
BTW, for all the non-makeup-fluent viewers out there, “moosh” IS a technical term!? *giggle*

Lady CherieApril 6, 2006 at 9:49 pm #7362nixslover1967MemberMistress Cindy, I have Ginger hair, what best eye shadow / lipstick colours would go best with this?
Many thanksApril 7, 2006 at 7:25 am #7370Cindy_PantyParadiseMemberHi Nix, ok with ginger hair, stick with earthy colours like greens and browns, stay away from pinks at all costs.
A nice green eye shadow with a dark grey liner would be nice and an delicate brown orange for your lips, finish off with a small amount of gloss on your lower lip to enhance the look.

April 14, 2006 at 12:47 am #7502cherieMemberI would mostly agree with what Cindy said, but you have to be VERY careful about how colors go with your complexion. Speaking as a redhead (strawberry-blonde is what they call my hair color over here; I think that’s pretty much the equivalent of ginger across the pond), the “earthy” eye colors that are usually advised look dreadful – they make my skin go all muddy-looking. I prefer warm, bright, clear springtime colors and particularly purples and lilacs which emphasize the green of my eyes.
Definintely do stay away from bluish pinks-fuscia-magenta lip colors and go for warmer coral-pinks and citrusy shades.
