I’m in the works of starting up my new panty selling business. I’m totally excited.  smt I’m just trying to be “safe” and still have a smoothly running business.

I started thinking about postage and mailing issues. Importantly I’m based in the USA and obviously did not want to use my real return address. I’m seen on other sites that there doesn’t have to be a return address label. So, i figure if i send a parcel in the USA i don’t have to use a return address, right? But what about orders to Europe? Do i have to have a return address? I originally was going to get a P.O. box…. but after reading about the woman who got arrested back in 2002 for selling her panties…. kind of scared me away from having a return address.

Also about pppay, I read all about them. They seem the coolest for me to use. I’m just thinking of just becoming a silver member and that’s it for now. I really wanted to put some sort of business title and not my real name or address when signing up. But seems unavoidable. So if i do that… and when people start buying… I hope they only see my email address and not my real name. Anyone know?

I don’t think I’m dishonest about not wanting to reveal my “real self,” I just want to have happy customers and myself protected and safe.

    Hey there. WELCOME.

I really didn’t want a PO BOX either but I’m backed in a corner at the mo and am pretty much forced to get one to stay alive online  🙁

I know UK PO BOX’s aren’t the safest when it comes to your information, they’re obliged to release it on request. I do not add return adresses and if you put a PO BOX return address on it it stands more of a chance of being intercepted at customs. Lots of people forget to put return addresses on but not many people have PO BOX’s unless you have a real reason, like we do, hence it looks suspicious  😉

Also don’t put a return address on the packages going to “strict” countries. I’d only use a BOX to recieve payments. I’d keep your packages very seperate if I was you. Plus, I’m pretty sure if it’s gone overseas they won’t send it all the way back to your PO BOX, it’ll just go in the bin as it costs them.

I think with PPPay you need to become a Silver member to get your money transfered out if you want it in your own account. Word on the grapevine is that they don’t much embrace adult payments either though so be discreet. I believe (don’t hold me to this) that buyers only see your email address when paying, I can’t find any info on it on the site. Sites don’t understand the “not being dishonest by wanting my info to be private” theory especially when it comes to privacy. Privacy is long dead I think. It’s very sad. The internet knows more about me than even I do!!  :cheer:

    Hope that helps?

    Welcome!  🙂

In the past I have gone so far as to use fake addresses as return addresses when shipping internationally so the package would not look suspicious.  (“Fake” as in I’d pick a random apartment building, use a fake name, and forget to put the apartment number).  I’ve also shipped with no return address with regards to sensitive items.

Some items you want to have your return address on, since they are a bit too costly to lose (e.g. expensive or rare lingerie pieces).  Unless the package contains something that is a big no-no I will put the return address on; it’s nice to know what happened to a package if it doesn’t arrive, and I don’t worry too much about getting in trouble for plain dirty panties.  (I don’t mail pee or shit in the mail.)

    Hope this helps!

Hey yall…very good question Msasuka! and welcome! ..I havent started my selling as of yet…still got a few loose ends to tie up *sighs* but im absolutely chompin’ at the bit, SO EXCITED!!…

I wanted to ask Jess, or any of the other experienced sellers, ..If infact you dont put a return address on it, (p.o. box) what if it gets lost in the mail?…where are they going to return it to?..Im sure priority mail is a sure fire way to go WITH delivery confirmation?..but with no return address the customer’s panties are just floating around somewhere? ….even so…if one is gonna take MAIL payments ONLY..the buyer will have the address (po box)(also…when giving the buyer the address to send the payment, you’re not gonna include a name im assuming for privacy, but will the post office think that is strange and want to investigate because you are always reciving mail to your post office box without your name on it..just the p.o. box address) but just dont put the return address on the package when its sent to them?..i think im confusing myself..LOL

    Thanks yall!

The problem with using your PO BOX as a return address for packages is it’s illegal to use your BOX for such things, and let’s face it, the mail are the last people you want to pee off!  :cheer: For example if your package were damaged and returned, and your local postie has a pair of dirty panties flop out on his lap….well it’s be hard to explain away!! They can close your box too and not give a refund if they get suspicious.

I’ve never had anything get lost so far (not panties) I’ve had them go to the wrong house and what not, but I doubt that once it’s out of your country should something happen to it along the way, that it’ll be coming back. If it’s damaged the company you use generally have to compensate you and pay to have it shipped all the way back. I think they simply bin it, especially as they’re such small packages. I do wonder if they sneek a peek first?  😛 In my experience guys don’t like Recorded delivery. Imagine the wife signing for it! It brings up that “What was your package honey?” conversations that I think guys like to avoid. I offer recorded delivery and no one’s ever asked for it so far.

Payments, I’d say just request blank cheques, with a seperate note saying what they’ve ordered, or have a printable order page. Or take postal orders. I think that your PO BOX address is just that, with no name….I think

I get payments mailed to my PO box with the name “Ms. Karen” or “Allura’s Closet” (Ebanned ID) and there have never been problems.  The one time the postie gave me a funny look I told him I sold on eBay (implying that Allura’s Closet was an eBay name/store.)

With no return address and an undeliverable package, I assume the the post office just chucks it.

It is always conceivable that a buyer could “turn you in” (what happened in that U.S. case), and you could be identified with your PO box address, but many buyers would not risk exposing themselves as the complainant.  (In any case, I don’t send special chocolate or lemonade in the mail…  Used panties are not as serious an issue, I would think.)

    My $0.02!

Just to clarify once again, she was not arrested for selling panties! I know what the newspaper article said but I also know the girl and she told me what really happened. Let’s just leave it at she was NOT arrested for selling panties and I haven’t actually seen any report that anybody has been arrested for panty providing!

Back to your regularly scheduled thread. LOL

    MissAsuka,

First, I want to point out what Jess, Karen, etc have not – Jess is in the UK and Karen’s in Canada, where postal (and other) regulations are different from here in the US.? Here in the US, for instance, it is NOT illegal to use your PO Box as a return address for packages or anything else.? What IS illegal in the US is sending “biohazardous material” through the mail, which, if it came to a court battle, would probably include period and scat items, but not pee or plain cummy panties (as there’s no evidence that disease can be transmitted through pee or cum, unlike blood and shit).? On the other hand, here in the US sending anything sexual through the mail puts you at risk for an obscenity prosecution.? This risk is likely very minor if we’re talking about plain worn panties, much higher for period/poop/pee items, and my understanding of the situation with the girl who actually got convicted was she was nabbed for sending shitty panties.? (I would appreciate if Krooze or PK could fill us in on the details!)? The US Postal Service also does NOT have a policy of releasing info on PO Box holders to just anybody who asks; they will only give out that info to somebody with a legitimate reason for asking, like a cop with a court order or something like that.

If you’re going to be accepting payments through the mail, you’ll probably want to get a business checking account (so you can take personal checks), and when you do that you’ll have to get what is called a “fictitious name registration.”? Which basically means you file a form with your state and pay a fee so that you can do business under whatever name you choose.? Then, voila, you can use the fictitious name on your return address labels.? Mine’s “Chateau Cherie Enterprises,” nice and neutral but also specific enough that the guy knows who the package is from.? If you don’t intend to accept personal checks I see no reason why you can’t just make up a business name (without filing the fictitious name registration) and use it on your packages, but as always when trying to circumvent the government you are taking a legal risk.? It’s not illegal here to put any damn thing you please as a return address, but it IS illegal to operate a business without the appropriate licenses etc.

I use printed address labels for both shipping & return address, and I ship USPS Priority Mail with delivery confirmation.? Delivery confirmation DOES NOT mean anybody has to sign for the package, just that the Post Office verifies that the package was delivered.? The customer never even has to know!? I consider this important protection against any guy who tries to rip me off by claiming he “never got the package,”? and also it’s dead easy since USPS Priority Mail packages can be sent from home, with postage paid for online, AND if paid for online the delivery confirmation option is FREE.? Plus, I know that a lot of companies use Priority Mail to send junk mail, so IMO a Priority Mail flat-rate envelope with preprinted address & return labels looks a lot more innocuous than a brown kraft envelope with or without feminine handwriting on it.? And to top off the benefits, the Post Office will not only give you free Priority Mail boxes and envelopes, they’ll deliver them right to your door!

    Check it out:
    http://shop.usps.com/cgi-bin/vsbv/postal_store_non_ssl/home.jsp?appName=SSOL

As far as shipping overseas, I ship USPS Air Mail in a plain white tyvek envelope with printed address & return address lables, and I’ve not had any problems.? Another thing that’s different here in the US is that ANY package going to foreign parts, no matter how small, MUST have a customs declaration attached.? The customs form includes areas (which must be filled out) for value of contents, description of contents, and return address and signature of sender.? I’ve never had any trouble using my PO Box as the return address on this form,? I usually sign with my “stage” name (Cherie), and I put “gift – clothing” as the description of contents and $20 as the value.? If a small package (under 1lb) has correct postage & a customs form it can legally be sent from your house (saving you a trip to the PO), however many Postal employees don’t know this and so if your mail carrier balks and you don’t want to raise suspicion it’s probably best to ship from the Post Office itself.

One last note about shipping…those tyvek envelopes (which are also used by the US Postal Service for their priority mail envelopes) are practically indestructible – no chance of your smelly panties falling out into the lap of a suspicious postal worker!

Now, with all this filing of forms etc there’s obviously some risk of somebody being able to trace you.? The only way I can think of to remain completely anonymous in all this is to have somebody else front for you, using their name address etc.? That said, it’s really a rare bird who will even know to look at things like the whois for a website or a business’s fictitious name registration.? My feeling about this is that if somebody is determined to cause me grief they will find a way, so I’m just not going to worry about it beyond ordinary, commonsense precautions.

I’ve used PPPay for a number of transactions with no problems;? you do have to give your real, legal name etc info so that you can actually get at the money (just like with PayPal!) but as far as I know all the customer sees is your email addy.? I did put “Cherie” as my contact name when I signed up, and I used my PO Box as the address just in case.

Hope I haven’t bored ya’ll too much with all this, and hope it helps!

:cheer: You’ve never met my UK postie with his size 10 feet! It’s just a new challange to that git!

Also I no longer take my packages to the post office so rarely add customs stickers. I just do a Cindy, slap a few stamps on it and pop them in the good old red box  😉 They always get to the US fine without, as long as the postage is ok and the local yobs haven’t nuked the box that is  mad

Heya Andie, Thanks for the Welcome smt

Im sorry about the “bold” font, I didnt realize thats what it meant, I’ve been in yahoo chat for lil’ better than 6 years and I just thought all “caps” was yelling…oppsie, again my apologies.

I know this thread was orginally started by MissAsuka, and my apologies for posting so much on her thread, but I have to give kudos and a HUGE thank you to Cherie for her very informative DETAILED post.? Living in the U.S. myself, all of that stuff was really worrying me, Cheri I had no Idea you were in the U.S. as well..*smiles* ….The ficticous name registration has blown me away, I never knew there were any such thing, do you know who I would need to contact about receiving one of these forms?…I intially thought maybe to NOT accept personal checks ( I really didnt think to many people would pay with a personal acct. due to spouse suspicions etc. ) but I could be wrong.? I don’t want to get in trouble for not paying taxes, etc. with the IRS, but I’m so sure that there are ways around everything and I’m sure alot of people do it, but with my luck…they would surely make an example out of me!!! LOL! …So, do you think, that I could still turn it in and pay taxes accordingly JUST by using a business name on a checking account (aka telling them I just run a small ebay home business) WITHOUT having to fill out that form? you are speaking of? And do you know if you HAVE to have a “business licenses” to have a small online business such as ebay, if however you do intend to turn in your earnings?…I know I’m being aggravating and im sorry for that I just want to do the right thing or do it in such a way that I dont get into a whole hell of a lot of trouble.? And all this coming from a person that hasnt even started selling yet (outside that one person i spoke of in my first post)…my digital camera is SUPPOSE to be on its way here so I’m one step closer YAYYYYYYY!!! ..I guess i’m just trying to get everything in a somewhat organized order before I do start my selling.

..About the priority mail thing….I didnt click on the liink that you put in for the stuff to be delivered to your door, but im sure its the same place I went to get mine….you can order all the priority shipping supplies you need/want from there at NO CHARGE…i just got mine about a month ago and everything I need is in that box, all the different types of envelopes (minus the boxes, which i could have ordered, but didnt) tape, address lables etc., that i could possibly need for a while…anyone using usps priority mail should definately look into this, in my opinion!

Thanks to all the girls and guys of PH for puttin up with my “ignorance” (ignorance =’ing “a lack of knowledge”) and letting me ask away to my hearts content, yall have NO IDEA how much yall have helped me, thank you so much, again..Huggggssssss!!!? ? ?…and MissAsuka, sorry I asked so many questions on your thread, but I do hope you’ve gotten as much out of it as I have.
