Hi, I would like to kindly ask for words of wisdom pwetty pweeze

I’m looking into merchant accounts…but am not crazy about the adult payment processors not having chargeback protection. (AlertPay)

But, does anyone have experience with AdultMerchantPay?

I’m either going to work with one of these processors or open my own merchant account through my host (lil more expensive).
Thanks so much for any advice smt smt smt

    Hi!

I looked into using AdultMerchantPay last month, contacted them and got this reply:

Please excuse me for the delay in my reply. It is due to the holidays we had.
Be kindly informed that unfortunately at present we do not have a solution suitable for your business needs. Please excuse us for the inconvenience. We are currently developing a solution intended for start-up and smaller companies which could be suitable for your business but it is not expected to be launched in the following two months. Thank you for your understanding.

They wanted to know my monthly sales volume, so presumably it is for larger businesses only? They have said that they will contact me when their new programme is available, so if I hear anything I will let you know!

I am a bit scared of merchant accounts, they all seem really expensive, especially for a new seller like me. But the payment processor issue isn’t going to go away. I wish there was a simple solution!

If you do find a good merchant account provider, could you maybe let me/us know?

    Thanks, good luck! xx

You only really need a payment processor if you are going to sell immediate services like web cam.

For panties what is wrong with a simple payment into your bank account, either by online or over the counter?

Yeah, Ponygirl, I was reading for the majority of this weekend about payment processors.  Seems they cater to large businesses than us independent gals.  🙁

But thanks ladies, for the info….

You know what would be GREAT:huh:
If all of us ladies got together and created our OWN payment processor LOL….PANTY HEAVEN! smt

Maybe the experienced out there could give some tips. I’d like to seriously research this.

I would absolutely take the time to get one started…we need a PH fund raiser LOL

In all seriousness, I think we need to empower ourselves since all these payment processing businesses are too dumb :uglystupid2: to figure out what a great market this is.

Believe me we have tried to do this in the past .. even I bought a domain name and the software BUT the banks wont touch us!!  That is why paypal and nochex no longer allow adult sites because they are classed as a high risk.

If you DO find a bank who is interested the charges are SO darn high it just isn’t worth it.

Myself, PK and a few other people really went into this in depth – it is near on impossible.

But gift certificates from Amazon work too – if you cant find anything you like on Amazon to buy then sell them on ebay for slighly less!

That’s such a shame   We’re not mauling animals or babies SHEESH…why do banks treat this industry so badly?

One day, future panty girls will giggle at the idea that we had to fight conservative knuckleheads to sell a sweet smelling, innocent panty.

I will continue to sniff around for more info…I will find that loophole

No, this is true beaause the adult industry incurs charge back charges more than any other tangible item ever sold.  I can actually see their point.

I know of a couple of sellers who DO have their own merchant account and some buyers are inclined to order and then claim back their money!

Its not fun for the seller nor the banks… comes with playing in the adult playground Im afraid, the bullies rule unfortunately and everyone else has to suffer.

As Cindy says, the reason it is so difficult to use credit cards for panties has to do with chargebacks. Apparently, for adult items, which all cards such as Visa, Mastercard, etc see used panties falling under, have a large amount of these charge backs. A charge back is simply someone buying something with a credit card and then disputing the charge either because they are simply an asshole or maybe their wife sees the charge and the guy says “I have no idea what that’s about” and to “prove it” they dispute the charge.

Of course the bank doesn’t lose any money because they take the payment right back from the seller plus add on a nice fee. In other words, the seller gets screwed by the person filing the false charge back and stealing the item, and then by their bank. To add to this, if you pile up enough charge backs, the merchant processor will drop you. It is pretty well stacked against the seller. Paypal and the like don’t want to pay any more fees to the credit card issuers than they already do and they definitely don’t want to lose the ability to take credit cards, so it is easier for them to just not deal with adult items. So eventhough Paypal may be losing millions of dollars by not allowing adult transactions, they know that they could risk losing everything if Visa et al. decided not to let their cards be used with Paypal.

I could set up a “wallet” solution and have it in place by tonight where buyers and sellers create an account and buyers fund their accounts by mail in check or bank transfer. The buyer simply releases funds from their account to the seller’s account. The seller can then withdraw the funds for cash. This type of system is safe and fool proof. However due to the inconvenience of having to fund the account before making payment to a seller, most (buyers and sellers) have said they wouldn’t use such a system which is why I have’t done so already.

I am actually planning on putting out some news later this week for a payment solution that many may find will work well for them. Stay tuned.

Yeah, seems like you all have tried hard to come up with a solution.  The chargebacks are why I WON’T use the payment processors…they offer no protection from what seems to be a constant problem [ppl disputing charges, etc.].
I think your solution sounds great; it certainly wouldn’t hurt to try  B)

But since this topic has come up, there has been so much great feedback. I am so happy to be part of this community; you all work very hard to keep it thriving  :cheer:

So, thanks for all the advice. I look forward to any and all progress PH makes.  smt

    I had no idea about chargebacks…What a young’n I am.

I have an alertpay account, but no one ever uses it anyway, should I just stick to my other payment solutions?

Money orders and checks seem to be the most popuar anyhow.

    Hi Anni,
I just wanted to put in my 2¢ about checks. I don’t accept personal checks for the following reasons:
•They could bounce, so you need to wait a few days and follow up to make sure the check clears.
•Customers can get canceled checks back and see your info on them (name, signature, bank it was cashed at). Or you can view canceled checks online (that’s how my bank works).
•If you write a check out to “Cash” to avoid the legible name thing, the bank usually takes a fee for the transaction.
I know this is a bit off topic from Payment Processors, but I just don’t want anyone putting personal info out there without knowing.

Maybe just money order then…

That sounds like a good mix:
    giftlists
    giftcertificates/cards
    money orders

All above seem retty safe for all involved. And they cover online payments, too.
