problem with royal mail

hi a buyer sent me some cash for an order via 1st class recorded via royal mail, he said he was sending £30 and he posted it yesterday morning.
ive just got home and his letter was here on the mat but it has been opened and resealed there is only a tenner in there and it has been sealed back up. noone lives in my house but me and my girls.
the other thing is it says on the sticker royal mail recorded signed for? i never signed for it, so who did and where do i stand?

not sure what to do now is the buyer is saying he definately sent £30. 🙁

You can complain at the post office for a start and your gent should be able to claim it back.. There will be a record of who signed for that delivery and if not you can claim the money back. Take it to the post office and see what they can do.

I have to say I had something very similar where the buyer said he hadn’t got the panties and I certainly didn’t get the money ….I offered to send him another pair to a different postal address in case the problem was that he had a PO  box and I’ve never heard anything back…

well i think im gonna wait and see who signed for it first, i have a dodgy neighbour so im thinking it was left with them, they stole the cash then sealed it back and put through my door.

but i thought recorded mail was supposesd to be signed by you and you only or someone in your household?

As far as I know thats the case…I know its probably an awful thing to ask but I used to work with teenagers ….hint? Don’t want to say it out loud ….

Anyone can sign for a recorded letter in your house, but if a neighbour signs for it and is left with him, the postman MUST put a card though your letter box to tell you that he has left it wth the neighbour.

oh right, well i have no card and the letter was on my mat whn i got home, tried doing the tracking number thing but it says come back later on the royal mail site. cant get hold of the buyer yet either.

i will go down tomorrow, but first i want to wait til my neighbours get home and ask them if they no anything and also i need to speak to my seller again to confirm how much he sent. you never know he may just have thought he put in more, i dont know.
but im not happy with royail mail regardless of money being stolen or not.

i dont even know who signed for my bloody letter and that really pisses me off  :cry:.

Darling I would be straight down the Post Office demanding my money. I would have a bloody fit if not with them then with the neighbours. No one steals my hard earned money and gets away with it :knuppel2: mad mad mad :laugh: Let us know how you get on  🙂

yes i will but i cant get hold of the buyers or neighbours yet, i dont want to be a bitch shouting my head off when it might not be completely their fault. ill post as soon as i know whats happened.

For future reference:

If a client cant’t or won’t pay you by BACS or cheque then rather than sending cash have him send a good old fashioned Postal Order. It is secure and the client will have proof of how much he sent you.

BTW rather than giving out your real address I strongly suggest you invest in a Royal Mail PO Box for your own protection.

well i did tell him he could pay by cash at any paypoint but he didnt want to, and i dont like to give out bank details as it so easy these days for people to fraud, signing up for subscriptions etc via direct debit. all u need is the name and bank account no and sort code for most sites so i try to keep away from that, thought abot a po box too, but i think it would be too expensive for me, especially since i random get snail mail payments.
