Jareal, a bank transfer is safer than writing a cheque! You dont even need to give out your name for someone to make a bank transfer (BACS) .. just your account number and sort code. If you ever have to write a cheque to someone that not only has your name but also your signature.
I believe giving out your address is far more risky than giving out part of your bank account info. (in the UK anyway)
March 23, 2007 at 1:19 pm #14430AnonymousGuestyes i will have to try tht in future.
my buyer is now not sure how much he put in the envelope as he said he sent two payments on the same day and he thinks he may have put the wrong address on each, so now has to wait to hear back through email as to wether he paid them too much. im just hoping if he did that the person is honest enough to own up to it.
if thats not the problem, then i have a dodgy neighbeir or posties and i will be taking it further.
but royal mail are still not off the hook, just checked track and trace and apparently it was delivered today according to them.still doesnt say who signed for the letter though.March 23, 2007 at 1:27 pm #14431Cindy_PantyParadiseMemberOK you said the envelope had been tampered with? Does your buyer remember resealing it or re-using an old envelope? That would be another idea to check on.
March 23, 2007 at 1:29 pm #14432Mr EMemberJarael, a PO box costs about £50 per year if you go and collect your post or about £100 per year if you have your post delivered.
How many panties would you have to sell to pay for a whole year’s worth of protection? Four or five? Surely your safety has got to be worth it!
March 23, 2007 at 1:32 pm #14433AnonymousGuesthe said he resealed it with one strip of sellotape, just got off the phone to him now and he has offered to pay the missing money but i have told him to wait and see what happens, its just a big mess, as i cant go to royal mail until i know all the facts and im just waiting around. its not really the cash thats bugging me the most, its the fact that i dont know who signed for my mail. and if somebody has opened it and stole from it then thats even worse.
March 23, 2007 at 1:40 pm #14434Cindy_PantyParadiseMemberthey MUST have a signature and a printed name somewhere on their records. Can you not phone your local sorting office or post office and find out:huh: Explain that nobody was in to sign for it and yet it was on your door mat and you want to know who it was who signed for it. It is your right!
March 23, 2007 at 1:41 pm #14435mikegukMemberJarael,
So far by what you have said, your buyer seems to be very honest and open as to what he has done, sounds like you have a good one there?
As for the Royal mail, you can still ask them to show you who signed for it if you go down to your local sorting office. The reason while its only shoing up as delevired today is probly because the postman only handed in the form today.
Mike
ps, Just take the letter and some form of other ID with you as wellMarch 23, 2007 at 2:05 pm #14436AnonymousGuesthi i only have the one who pays by snail mail but after thsi i think he will now use bank transfer or paypoint which is safer still, im gonna go down tomorrow morning and see whats happened. by that time i should have spoke to my neighbours and also my buyer hopefully will have more info as well.
otherwise i would prob get po bpx if most of my buyers paid that way, but most pay by paypoint.
thanks everyone for your help and support, hopefully all will become clear within a day or two. 🙂March 23, 2007 at 2:05 pm #14437Mr EMemberJarael:
Whether or not your guy mixed up his envelopes, the postman is at fault.
If the recorded delivery was signed for by someone else at a different address (and I’m not even sure that this is allowed) then the postman should have left you a card telling you where the delivery had been left.
The normal situation is that if they cannot get a signature at the address they will leave a card saying that you can collect it from the sorting office, and then you are required to take along proof of identity.
What Cindy suggests is right and remeber that the sorting office will also know which postman did your round on the day of the delivery.
You don’t have to wait to hear any more from your buyer, the postman has done something wrong – go get him!
Good luck!
March 23, 2007 at 2:12 pm #14438AnonymousGuestwell thats what i thought about recorded mail, i thought only someone in u home could sign for it.
ive asked one side of my neighbours and they didnt, so wether may horrible neighbours on my other side signed for it, and then put it through my door i dunno, but there was no card through my door saying so.
it could all be very innocent, maybe my seller did get the two letters containing cash mixed up and the postie maybe just thought that he was doin me a favour by signing it for me,
well im gonna get my girl from school and go down, though im sure they shut at 4 on fridays, damnMarch 28, 2007 at 11:59 am #14644AnonymousGuestfound out it was my neighbour who signed for my letter, he is refusing to admit to any missing money, so i have to write a formal complaint and then it will be investigated.
thats where royal mail got it so wrong, if they had just left a slip saying they had taken my letter back to the depot as i wasnt in, thn none of this would have happened.
anyway at least i sort of know whats happened, ive let my buyer know and he is also putting a complaint in as he did not get what he paid extra for.
my 24 hr panties should cheer him up though, on the way to him as we speak lol bb
March 28, 2007 at 1:04 pm #14645Cindy_PantyParadiseMemberso it was clear your buyer didnt get the money mixed up in the wrong envelopes then J as he originally thought.. and it could have only been a post worker or your neighbour.
March 28, 2007 at 8:40 pm #14654Jessia_Jones_666MemberWell at least you kind of know what happened. What a palaver 🙁
March 28, 2007 at 8:46 pm #14655AnonymousGuestyes, my heads fucked up with it all, but hopefully i will get some compensation, im hoping even if it was the neighbour who stole it, cus at the end of the day royal mail was in the wrong letting him sign for it and not dropping a crd through my door, so i reckon its their responsibility.
March 28, 2007 at 9:28 pm #14659Jessia_Jones_666MemberYeah thats right I would press them for compensation for sure. mad
