For those of you in Great Britain…what is the deal with what money you use there? I just watched a good movie that came out on DVD last week called “Millions” (I recommend if you’re looking for something to rent), part of the story deals with Great Britain’s change over to the Euro. In the movie, the characters have to spend some money before it becomes worthless on a certain day when the Euro comes into play. I think I remember a few years ago when this happened. You had to change over your ” pounds?” or they would become worthless. It seems that people were upset about this. Now though when looking at buying from a seller in GB, I see that she accepts GB pounds. What happened? Did GB dump the Euro and go back to the money they were using pre-Euro??

I’m really curious, thank you for your help!? B)

    Hi Andie

We never stopped using the good ol GB Pound.  We are obviously part of Europe but we chose to keep the GB Pound and not use the Euro.

I’m just a temporary UK citizen, but as far as I know all kinds of political and economic reasons were given for not embracing the Euro, but what it basically comes down to with most Brits is a reluctance to give up a part of the national identity.
