To show face or not to show face?

Hello ladies!

My site has been running for a couple months now.  I’ve had a little business and it’s been very fun.  I’ve had several requests though to show my face.  Just wondering what others experiences are with showing their face?  I still wouldn’t tell family and friends about my activities.

thoughts from a buyer, I’m sure the ladies will chip in with much better comments than me a little later :cheer:

I think showing your face on a few photos for buyers shows that you are real, and it’s lovely to see the beautiful face of you ladies when we purchase or receive some photos? :cheer:

I can understand the reluctance to have lots of photos showing your face on site thoug, it’s too easy for surfers to right click and save and then you have no idea wehere the photos wil lappear on the net .. or on another ‘site’ grrrrr

Plus, as you say, there is the idea of not wanting your familly or freinds to know of your activities.

I’d say it’s a question of trust, if you have regular buyers who you feel you can trust, then it’s not so much of a problem sending photos with your face on them.

I do understand your predicament Lynn, and I’m sure you’ll get lots better advice and experiences from the other ladies? :kiss:

I personally dont have a problem with showing my face on my site because I dont have any ‘offensive’ photos of me which include my face that are easily available. I only have a few and those are in my paid gallery areas.

But I do agree that if you have a young family or the rest of your friends and family and colleagues are not so understanding about what you do, then it is only right that you protect them from being hurt.

I always worry about if I had more extreme photos plastered all over my site showing my face that my children would be one day having a giggle at their mates houses surfing porn etc, and up pops “Mummy” in all her glory.? Not Funny!

Thing is, once your pics are on the net, there is NO way to get them back.?Your pics could end up on any site, and one that is not ICRA labelled or protected from kids. That is my biggest fear and my number one rule is to always think of my kids first (and other kids for that matter too!).

I do think though that if you really cannot show your face at all, it is therefore nice to have maybe a standard nice sexy pic of yourself that you can privately email to those that ask for it, and perhaps provide another one when they buy from you.

That way your face is kept directly away from your website but you are keeping your clients and visitors happy by meeting them half way.

Besides, I run a panty site, not a porn site, so if its porn they want, they may go elsewhere – theres enough girls out there willing to show more. However, in my experience, I do think that guys prefer a more sexy, erotic approach than seeing everything hanging out anyway … but hey, thats just my opinion!

I think it’s a great “tactic” to not show your face at the start. When you look at people galleries who don’t show their faces, should a pic happen to have her chin and her lips on it then it doubles the hits. I think it builds some mystery and suspense.

I have a Yahoo Group that’s protected and filled with face shots but I have to grant access so I know which of my customers will get to see them. Maybe try that but don’t use a full face on your opening page.

I think your site and photosets are wonderful as they are. Have you considered doing a faced photo set? Then maybe you could sell it privately to the customers you trust.

I say do what you feel comfy doing. I do think though that the internet lulls you into a false sense of security. In the short time I’ve been selling I’ve had ALL my personal info leaked and it was a huge wake up call. I’m sure Cindy has her tales to tell from over her selling years too. Certainly be careful, but be happy  :laugh:

yes Champers you are SO right – Only do what you are comfortable with and dont let anyone talk you into doing something you dont want to – easily done when they start flashing the money at you – trouble is once you start it gets harder and harder to stop.

This happened to a page 3 model girlfriend of mine (In the UK we have a paper called The Sun and theres topless models on page 3) … well she then got offered more money to take off more clothes for another company and she did it .. .. then she got offered even more money and now she is making actual porn movies!

She is making heaps of money but that is all she can do now.? Luckily she is happy with it, so good luck to her – but its not something I would even want to start.

So if you are not happy with something – dont even start doing it, whether is showing your face or whatever else.? Stay within your own personal boundaries and stay true to yourself.

Personal information isnt that hard to obtain over the internet when you know the right places to go.? Every address that anyone finds of me is registered at either my parents, uncles or friends.? I dont care if its legal or not, I dont wish to have fans staked out on my front garden, or even worse I am not prepared to take on stalkers.? I get enough wacky emails as it is and well as you say Champers …. be careful – the internet can be a dangerous to place to play.

Stay true to yourself, your clients, and just enjoy what you want to be doing without feeling like you have to be doing it.

It’s true. I’ve been stalked 3 times before panty selling (is that just unlucky or what?) one of those being especially serious. I’ve done the weird men phoning me and chasing me down the street and I’m not about to do it again. One guy was able to get info on me and didn’t even know my full name.

Just the other day I had a couple of emails from a long standing private customer entitled Dear “real name” when there’s no way he should know that. Every now and then I get an “I know more about you than I should” email and it always makes me  :huh: I think you just need to know your boundaries and when people cross them put your foot firmly down.

I just go round and double check all the people I trust my information with haven’t let me down. It’s all too easy and the internet isn’t a big place when you know what you’re looking for.

Just a thought, I haven’t been doing this for very long and I don’t like showing my face because of my family.  But for people I get to trust I sometimes go on webcam to just show them my face.  Just an idea.

My two cents worth…

I have no problem showing my face, but then ALL my friends and family know what I’m doing;? I’m not even planning to hide it from my young kids – I believe violence deserves more censorship and sex less. (When they’re old enough to ask I’m gonna tell them “mommy makes cheesecake and sells it on the web” *giggle*)

Plus none of my pics are really nasty or trampy;? I only ever show “beaver” shots in my private area and even those are pretty artistic I hope.

On the other hand, I WILL NOT do webcam or video stuff, except as very special treats for valued customers…those clips I do are really lousy quality, can’t see a heck of a lot…and I have no problem with keeping it that way.? *I* feel over exposed in video.

Pics of your face are certainly good for giving the customer the sense that they know you, and that you’re a real, desirable girl, but there are other ways to do that too…Cindy and I both have voice clips on our sites, which can do just as much as a face shot in letting the surfer feel “close” to you.

I’m glad Ms Lynn brought this question up actually ’cause the responses have been really interesting.  I’ve been thinking for a little while about face shots.  I would love to tell the world, but my immediate family is strict christian and one of my day jobs is in the family business so it doesn’t leave me much breathing room.  The idea of giving face shots to only people you’ve built up trust with is a great idea and one I’d not thought of!

As a buyer i have to say i fell in love with Cindy’s smile the first time i saw her.Now when i order i can have photo sent or e-mailed or no photo.
i do understand people have many reasons for not publishing photos on the web but if you have good regular clients then you may be able to send or e-mail if you are sure of your buyer.
What i’ve seen of Ms Lynn and Suzie looks really good but in the end it has to be your decision.

Thank you everyone for your helpful and kind comments.  For now I’ve decided to keep the mystery and keep my face out of the pics.  I’m hoping my husband and I can soon find the time for another big photo shoot and I’ll get more pics up on the gallery here and on my site.
Perhaps in the future, maybe after I’m a bit more established, my “rules” will change a little 😉

I know this discussion has been running for a while but i would like to add to it.
I get round the problem by wearing a mask.I normally have a black cat mask or if its a special piccie set like a nurses outfit I wore a surgical mask.There are loads of ways around it like masks or maybe a vail or a boa.
I think it adds to the mystery too. 😉

I have to wear a mask lol..because My husbands and my family wouldn’t understand what or why I do this..But as you said the thought of being seen by people we know can be awkward.I have already been visited by 1 of his work mates who joined my group and other people from where I live have been too but luckly so far no 1 has said anything.But im sure the day will come soon when I am discovered and i will have to deal with it then,but until then I m just gona keep on doing what I like to do.. :cheer:
