OK, so there’s a lot of argument over whether PayPal accept transactions for used underwear and I’ve got no idea what to think!

Surely if you don’t explicitly state what’s being sold, and use a different email addy to the one you use on your site, so they can’t link it to you, it would be ok? If the buyer just presses the “Goods” button then it could be for anything! Clothes, CDs, DVDs… However I know there’s a risk that the buyer could report you if the transaction goes wrong for some reason.

Another thing is I have seen some private sites with the PayPayl “Buy now” button on them.

I would never give out my address, so I’d be very very reluctant to accept cash or cheques, and as for internet banking, with all the fraud that’s been going on I’m not sure I 100% trust it. I do have an internet banking account that came with my current account, but I’ve never touched it for that reason.

    So I’m a little confused!

Confused about what? There is no argument about Paypal. It really is very simple. You can’t use them. If you do then you are using them against their wishes and you deserve everything you get from them ie frozen account and disappointed buyers.

You can be careful and you can get away with it..until you don’t any more…and then what do you do if a buyer has paid but you can’t access the money?

The fact is that there are dozens of newbie sellers who think they can get away with it, and guess what? They get caught.

I’ve checked your profile and seen that you are in the UK. There is nothing to risk by giving out your account number and sort code so that buyers can pay by BACS. This information is printed on your cheques so it is hardly top secret and a security risk is it?

You can also accept amazon vouchers as payment too.

OK OK!! No need to bite my head off!

Clearly Paypal isn’t the way to go, but this BACS thing sounds ok, I’ll do some research.

Personally, I wouldn’t accept Amazon vouchers as I’d rather save up some cash for uni (I’m not under 18 by the way, I’m 19 and going into my second year – that’s legal in the UK, I don’t know if you have to be 21 in the US like the drinking age)

Excuse me? Bite your head off?

Little girl I suggest you grow up.

Fuck you. You’re not getting any more advice off me. Make your own mistakes and learn the hard way.

Wow, it’s nice to see that the mods (of all people!)on this site are nice and friendly….

You already saw I’m from the UK, we have a very different sense of humour here! I was in no way having a go at you when I used the phrase “bite my head off.” I think there may be a slight cultural misinterpretation here…

You will also note I actually took your advice on board – I am here to learn you know! And I would get nowhere by slagging off other members of this forum – being rude doesn’t get anyone anywhere.

    #23222

I am sorry if this comes off as being rude, just done a really long and hard shift and have not even had my coffee yet. Frist let me say welcoem and I hope you have fun and get all the help you need from here.

Topdraw I should pint out that Anna is for the UK so there is no cultural misinterpretation. I would all so like to point out that we tend to get people asking how do I do this or that on here and then going right against the advice giving. Anna is one of the most helpful people here and know what she is doing and talking about, she even won an award for helping out new seller last year. The other thing you haves to bare in mind is there are some great Lady’s who sell on boards like this, but there are some that rip people off, or make mistakes, this has a knock on effect on the nice Lady’s who do a good job on places like this.

    I am from the UK.

    Using the phrase

OK OK!! No need to bite my head off!

with several exclamation marks implies that I was shitty to you in some way. As far as I am aware that is the same meaning up and down the UK and in fact probably the same across most of the English speaking world.

    I wasn’t shitty. I was remarkably restrained.

Drop the attitude. It won’t get you anywhere on here.

Hi myerlansky, thanks for the welcome 🙂

Anna – when you said in an earlier post “I see you are from the UK” I took it to mean (wrongly) that you were from the US.

As for having an attitude, I already explained that I am on here to learn, and as such you will not find me being insulting, foul-mouthed, derogatory or aggressive to anyone on here. That is not the way to make new friends.

The reason I used the bite your head off phrase is that you just seemed very vehement about not using PP! That’s all – I was not implying that you were being s*****. It was not a remark meant to be taken to heart.

I think we have just got off on the wrong foot.

    #23228

The wrong foot being that you thought it was OK to use PayPal. This is SUCH a sore subject in the panty community because when PayPal find out they really do make it impossible for you to use them again, and they even do the same to the people who last sent you money through them as well.

If you spent some time reading the forum about PayPal you will see that we get the same old questions about using PayPal time and time and time again. To be frank, we are sick and tired of keep on protecting newbies and saying the same thing time and time again until we are blue in the face … more often than not the newbie goes ahead uses paypal then comes back ranting and raving on here or on their site .. then of course, we are the bad guys.

This place is the BEST place to learn about the panty industry. If you don’t understand something then ask but please have at least enough savvy to check out things properly before launching into a business you know nothing about.

Running a panty business is alot of hard work and it truly isn’t easy money either.

    Welcome to the forum 🙂

Hi, thanks for the welcome 🙂

I DID read through the forums and check them out, however there were people saying what you’re saying (ie avoid PP at all costs) and then there were others saying “you can use them if..” or “they’ve changed their legislation” etc.

I was confused because I HAD done some background reading, and was getting two very conflicting viewpoints.

I can imagine it must be annoying to get newbies asking the same qs all the time (I volunteer moderate on a different forum, so I know where you’re coming from) but I just wanted to get clarification on this issue for myself, rather than reading posts that can be months old and possibly have outdated info on them.

Especially as it’s such an important issue – I don’t want to have any assets frozen or anything like that!

Edit: I didn’t think it was OK to use PP by the way – I didn’t know if it was ok, hence the question! If I’d have thought it was OK then I’d have just gone ahead and done it.

    Hello Topdrawer
    Welcome to Panty Hog.

Anna covered the PP side of things already. Basically don’t got there.

There is no need to be confused, Panty Selling isn’t rocket science, but it certainly isn’t for everyone either.
It needs consistency, dedication, professionalism and a huge amount of personality. Some girls jump on this board and expect to sell their knickers without offering a basic introduction, interaction nor websites/blogs.
They last 5 minutes and we waste days helping them out.
By introducing yourself here and wanting to set up a site/blog you have already shown you are a step head of most.

This is a friendly and helpful, embrace any advise you’re offered as you won’t find it anywhere else.

    Have fun!

Hi serena, thanks for the warm welcome! 🙂

I’m not looking to make a quick buck out of this – I know anything to earn money is going to be hard work! I’m not expecting to live off it either – the nature of my course at uni means we have a lot of field trips and I want to save up some cash for them. I understand I won’e be making ridiculous amounts of money – but every little helps doesn’t it?

I won’t be starting anything properly for another couple of weeks (which is when I’ll be back at my own place rather than at my parents!) but I’m just doing some research and some planning ahead. I’ve had a look at other people’s websites (and most of the time I email them with qs on their site) so I think I’m getting a good idea of what’s expected and how best to do one – I’m not sure about a blog yet, I don’t know if I’d have time to write one, but I’m not totally diregarding it.

I’ve got a little bit of time to think about it anyway so I’ll probably be hovering round here for a while!

    Thanks 🙂

Oh yeah, and I’ve also looked into getting verified – is it worth it?

    #23233

If you are doing your homework hun you would have gone straight to the PayPal terms and conditions to check.

As for asking if being Panty Trust Verified is worth it. That all depends on how serious you are as a seller.

Best thing to do is look around Panty Trust and decide for yourself. But most buyers these days won’t touch you if you are not verified. This proves that you have gone the extra step to prove that you are genuine and that you care about your customers.

Also a blog is not as time consuming as a full on website and its a good and free way to get yourself off the ground.
