    Okay so lets get the ball rolling on how people in the UK use certain terms and words that may mean different things on the other side of the Pond.

    Its quite funny when youre chatting to someone but what if they take offence at what you mean … I hope these will help a little and narrow the chat gap between ourselves.

    Lets see – in the UK use these words which we mean as …

    The Dogs Bollocks? … Totally awesome and nothing can match it!
    Pissed … Meaning one is so drunk they can bearly stand
    Fanny … This actually means pussy in the UK
    Fag … Cigarrette
    Pants … means underpants/knickers or if something is bad its “pants”
    Tights … in USA I believe these are Hose
    Shag … is a quick fuck
    Bang … is a quick fuck
    Bonk … is a quick fuck
    Bugger .. just a swear word like “shit” or “damn” or you can bugger something up (like HTML coding)
    Cobblers … something that is a load of bullshit

    I cant think of anymore right now but Im sure there are tons and tons more … If anyone can think of some more terms then stick em down 🙂

    ..its really handy for everyone 🙂
    Love Cinds x

    lmao top post Cindy! oh Gods yeah a few definitions for our US friends so that they understand what the heck we’re saying in chat or on the forum lmao

    The Bees Knees = polite version of The Dogs Bollocks? :cheer:
    bladdered or hammered = Pissed lol
    Blow me = an expression of surprise lmao no really it is!
    Blow Off = farted as in the question ‘Who blew off?’
    Jimmy = Cockney rhyming slang for Jimmy Riddle = piddle = go for a pee (piss) lmao

    Gods there are so many more, I’ll return to this when I get back from work lmao

    Hope others add their input here in the interests of furthering understanding between UK and US lmao

    That’s so funny, because around here:

    pissed = really angry (depends on context – can also mean drunk)
    jimmy = fiddle with a device (e.g. jimmy a lock open)
    jimmy caps = condoms!
    fanny = butt

    Canadians have a popular brand of clothing (actually the company that made our Olympic uniform the past couple of times): ROOTS.

    That means something else in the U.K., does it not?  🙂

    HAHAHAHA um ROOT is more an Australian term, meaning to have sex 🙂

    Another Ausie one is Cracking a Fat = getting an erection? :cheer:

    Ok some more UK ones? 🙂

    Cracking = If something is cracking, it means it is the best. Usually said without pronouncing the last “G”. If a girl is cracking it means she is stunning? 🙂

    Excuse me = what kids are taught to say when they belch in public. We are also taught to say “pardon me” if we fart out loud. Unfortunately in American “excuse me” means you are encroaching in someone’s personal space and you say “pardon me” when you don’t hear someone properly. Imagine our surprise when we discovered that actually Americans are not belching and farting all the time.? :cheer:

    Goolies = Balls as in if you have been kicked in the goolies, your eyes would be watering and you would be clutching your balls? 😉

    Gutted = really somewhat upset

    Keep your pecker up = one way of saying keep your chin up. Use with caution as in some places your pecker is also your willy? :ohmy:

    Knock up = to wake someone up. Although it seems to have an altogether different meaning in the US? :rolleyes:

    The Mutt’s = somehting that is fantastic or excellent. “The Mutt’s” is short for “The Mutt’s nuts” which is clearly another way of saying the &quot:cheer:ohmy:g’s Bollocks”! All clear now?? :cheer:

    Whoops.  :)  I knew “Roots” meant something dirty SOMEWHERE!  🙂

    If someone said “keep your pecker up” I’d double over laughing and wait for all the limp-dick jokes that would be sure to follow!

    What a fun topic!

    Around here (southern USA):

    pissed = very angry, but it’s usually said as “pissed off”
    fanny = butt
    knickers = granny panties, or any panties if you’re trying to sound cosmopolitan? :rolleyes:
    shag, bang, bonk =? all fucks, though not necessarily quick
    nooner = a lunchtime fuck
    screw= to fuck
    nail = to fuck
    pork = to fuck
    fag = gay man (dyke is the female equivalent)
    bugger = to fuck in the bum
    spinner = a girl so tiny you could “spin her” around on your pole

    more words for ass = captain’s quarters, caboose, backside
    words for breasts = headlights, ta-ta’s, jahoobie’s (reserved for REALLY BIG tis)

    xxx
    Cherie

    Pencap,

    How about Chicken Hawk?? (which is an older gay man who goes for the barely-legals)? ?:rolleyes:

    Cindy,

    Around here a love muffin would be a bit further south
    bazookas would be the whole thing, not just nips
    boobies, jugs, and melons seem to be pretty universal though? ?:cheer:

    We’ll even categorize those melons…i.e.? are they cantelopes?? Honeydews?? Or (!) watermelons?? ? :cheer:

    We also say “NE”? for nipple erection? ?;)
