MemberOh, wow. I don’t send overseas too often, so I don’t think I’d need a bundle. But thats really awesome.
Don’t worry about the picture, it looked just fine. I guess internet explorer automatically resized it.

MemberIve never had to give any copy of anything to the post office unless I send recorded or registered. However, this depends on the weight and size of the package.
I dont normally ship recorded as it is very expensive but I always use the CN22 sticker on all my packages sent out from Europe. So no, they should not need to keep any copy unless you are paying extra services for registered or recorded or if you are sending it as a parcel and not a small packet 🙂

KeymasterActually, here in the US the customs form is supposed to be required when shipping overseas. Everytime I’ve had to do it, the counter person has put one on the package if I didn’t already have one. The post office does rip off part of the label and keep it before affixing the other part to the package.

MemberSurely they only keep the half if you get a number to track the parcel? I dont understand why they would need to keep a record of what you send out when its regular air mail? Im intrigued now 😛

MemberHmm, well I’m guessing that although we know these internationally as CN22 labels, we all in fact have a different version depending on our country.
I have a strip of CN22s on my office desk. They are 3″ square, white sticky label in English/French. There is no part that is torn off or copied.
We definitely have different versions.

Membermine is green and white, the green quarter you peel off and the white side has all the information of the address etc on it but is only used if you are sending over 5kg abroad or you want to track the parcel.Â
The picture of the USA one is very similar to the Germany one to look at but the white half is totally different.
I had no idea it was so different from country to country.. even the difference from UK and Germany – being in Europe you would think that would at least be the same 🙂
This is the German one:Âhttp://www.pantyparadise.co.uk/CN22-Germany.jpg
Funny!

MemberIf you (US girls) go to the US postal site http://www.usps.com/ you can get tons of info but best of all you can print (most of) your postage, labels and customs forms online …. as well as ordering free supplies.
If you print and pay for your International labels online …. it’s discounted ….. and the address label and customs form is all in one.
By doing this you only need to drop your packages at the PO or they offer free pick-up …. no waiting in line! 😉

MemberThis is all really good information, but don’t forget the original thread is about shipping TO the USA, not from the USA. … unless you have to also use a CN22 sticker for inside the USA as well?

MemberSorry ….. just thought it might help the US girls.

MemberI have an automated machine at my post office that prints the label I need, all I do is fill in the zip or country and postcode.
Thanks, Lynn, I’ll definitely look into that!!!

MemberOver here you have to put a sticker on every package you mail overseas, it has two sections and one part sticks to the package and the other gets torn off and filed by Auspost. You have to show your ID when you mail it too, and they record it on the torn off part. Apparently it’s an anti-terrorism thing, so if anyone has posted something evil they’ve seen the ID and know where to find them.
It’s just a pain in the bum that means you have to wait in line every time, no dropping it in a box to mail off. 🙁
