Ok this is how I do it. I have an A4 pad in which each page is one month I column up with each line being a day.

When I get an order form in I pencil in immediately the next available date and let the potential buyer know. I then give him 48 hours to confirm his order. when he confirms that the date and price is all ok I shall tick his name. If he dont confirm I rub him out and someone else snatches that day.

I put the price next to the pencilled name and how they are paying. When that payment comes in I put a red tick next to his name and order info so I know that order is “solid” ie it is paid and fixed.  if I am able to wear this order before someone else has paid I will do so, but I usually keep to my routine.

If someone doesnt pay I email them a week or so before and remind them and let them kindly know that I have not received payment and that they have 48 hours to pay or their order will be cancelled on the date it was agreed. 

As I am usually weeks or months booked out it isnt a problem to do this, but I can imagine if you dont get that many bookings it must be quite infuriating.  I know that if someone doesnt pay, it doesnt matter because someone else will jump in their place.

I also incorporate an extra day for each order – just in case I ruin an order or something goes wrong or I can just have a day off 🙂

I dont know where i would be without my A4 pad 🙂
