Oooo bandwidth. I luurrrve bandwidth! My site’s not optimised, I didn’t downsize the pics, so although it’s small I kill my bandwidth. At the mo, mine uses 5.0 GB a month (eeek) and has 100mb disc space (although I’ve not managed to fill that yet.) 5.0GB and 100mb is the lowest package they offer and ?35, I think with domain.

Me and a few other panty girls use xilo.net. Jules, I won’t big up ANY company unless I think they’re 110% worth and these guys are an amazing co! Love nor money would get me off Xilo. I’ve been bending the owners ear for the past 2 days getting stuff sorted for my refresh and I get snappy responses (weekends, holidays and late nights) and he’s not happy until you’re sorted. I don’t affiliate these guys but you’ll be hard pushed to find a better host, honestly. I showed my computer buff tutor the site and he said he was signing up too!

As an example of how nice they are, I told them I was pushing my bandwidth a few months back and they promised not to cut me off because “we’re nice people” Awwww! You don’t get that often with a server, any excuse to get a few more quid out of you and they’re in there!

I’d just send the guy a small low quality thumb nail pic. One he couldn’t use for anything other than a preview. State that due to previous abuse he won’t be getting anything bigger and keep your fingers crossed that he’s ok.

I did find an adult freehost that had no adverts on it, but It was too complex and it didn’t have a site builder. It’s seriously daunting getting your own but you can be confident the you won’t be in the thick of it on your own. I don’t think there’s a person on here who wouldn’t help you if they could. It’s suprising how quick you pick things up though.

Grabbing yourself a geocities is a great way of testing the water. It’s infuriating at first but you do get there in the end and it’s very rewarding. You and Linnie SOOO should get your own places, you pair are on fire  🙂 Hey, you should site share!  :laugh:

I’ve been having a think. Is CSS the only way to get standards compliant sites? I’ll get to grips with it eventually but Isn’t there a site builder that doesn’t create non compliant script? I understood why MS Frontpage liked IE and not FF, but Dreamweaver? Or am I getting this all wrong?

My head hurts! Table borders and funky spacing’s not so bad….builds charactor. At least that’s what I’m telling myself anyway  :cheer:

Ozzy’s very right. Having your own domian throws you in to a completely new realm. When I auctioned I’d only get emails while my auctions were active. If I got a bit tired I’d not do an auction for a bit but with a site of your own you’re open 24/7 and you have to keep on top of it all. It’s hard!! It brings huge advantages though. It’s yours to play with as you want, they’re infinately more popular than freehosts, you can spread your links about and people trust that you’ll still be there next week because you’ve coughed up for the hosting, you’re less likely to be a fly-by-night. But by god, prep yourself for some work!! You get out what you put in, which is great. If you want to be a big time seller then you can be, just got to work loads.

My hosting co is fabulous & costs upwards of about ?40 a year. Make sure you get a great host, there’s some horror stories around and uprooting would be a huge job.
