Panty Selling 101 – An Introduction

Panty Selling 101  –  An Introduction (UPDATED Nov 2008)
by Cindy@PantyParadise

There is so much activity going on in the world of used panties nowadays that it is really easy to get lost amongst all those scary do's and don'ts, which in the end you are so confused you might not even know where to even begin!  Don't worry that's how most sellers are feeling at the start of their newly found desires to sell their worn items. You want to do it, but HOW?  I hope the tips, hints and tricks in this article will help you.

Back in the old days (1998-2004), the Internet was much easier to handle! It was actually quite basic, not many sellers were openly around and I was just one of a handful who actually showed their face back then. Payment processors used to welcome any kinds of transactions and had no limits or boundaries and were happy for our business. That has all changed, and now more and more panty lovers are coming out of the closet and demanding more and more used panties, which then of course, more and more sellers are now offering their used and worn items, and meanwhile, the payment processors are now literally running and hiding from us!

have tried to explain below the main points as best as I could to help and advise new panty sellers or those wishing to start. However, at the end of the day it literally boils down to how genuine you and your products are, your customer care, and first and foremost, gaining and keeping trust from your buyer or potential buyer.

Learn a little HTML! Even by opening up a free Sensual Writer Blog http://sensualwriter.com/ (or similar that accepts adult content) gives you the opportunity to practice coding and actually seeing it work live. There are many types of software on the market like FrontPage, Expression Web and Dream Weaver, which seem to be the most popular for ease of use. Aracnophilia or PSPad (both free to download off the web) or even Notepad can be used for the more advanced coders who prefer to do it all by hand or for a quick edit. If you want full control over your site, you should at least be able to write basic code or at least know what it does.

Do NOT use free website sites such as (but not limited to) WordPress, Geocities, Freewebs, Homestead etc as they do NOT allow adult content to be freely hosted and your account will be suspended.

Buying your first proper site?
Its actually not that scary but the thought of it is terrifying when you have never done it before. Even choosing a name can be the first hurdle to get over! Then who to host with? Nightmare decisions! I cannot personally recommend a particular hosting company as there are so many out there but my advice is: Don't always go for the cheapest deal around as the information regarding your site statistics can be available for others to view on the web using certain software – plus your site is more likely to go down and subjected to being hacked.

Whois database.
This is when you register/buy your domain URL, you have to enter personal details of your name and address etc, which I consider to be sensitive information. This information is freely available to anyone who has online access. For all .co.uk domains, these are in the hands of "Nominet" and by using a .co.uk you have the right to keep your details hidden. Unfortunately, with all the others (.com, .net, .org etc) they do not have that option. This information you provide should be legally correct, but I think it only prudent that due to the nature of our business you should not disclose your own home address – use an alternative address, for example, your brothers or your parents or a guy friend, to protect yourself from stalkers etc.

Online Payment Systems

Online Payment sites that DO NOT allow adult/porn/panties etc to be sold using their services.  These companies include but are not limited to:
PAYPAL
NOCHEX
IKOBO
MONEYBOOKERS

At the time of writing (Nov 2008), only the following online payment processor accept adult sites:
ALERT PAY

The only other way to make secure online payments is to apply for a Merchant Bank Account, but can you really afford the monthly fees for that and then additional fees to accept credit cards?

Other Payment Solutions:
UK sellers can be paid by a simple bank transfer (online banking is the most popular). All the customer needs is your account number and sort code.  This information is not sensitive as it is also displayed on every cheque that you write anyway.
Buyers can also pay in cash or a cheque at their local branch of your bank.  They may, however, need your surname to do this.

Another popular way is to ask the buyer to purchase you a gift certificate from Amazon.  Bear in mind that vouchers can only be redeemed from where they were bought from, for example amazon.co.uk vouchers can only be redeemed at amazon.co.uk and vouchers bought from amazon.com can only be redeemed at amazon.com.
The good thing though when your buyer has an Amazon account he can log into either .com or .co.uk and buy the correct certificate for you.

Advertising
Usually most hosting companies will offer you a chance to submit your new site to most search engines. If not then at least visit Google and Yahoo and submit it for free. They don't guarantee to spider your site but it is more than likely they will, however it could take up to even 3 months before you will see your site being indexed.

Get listed at Panty Trust  Panty Trust.com
Before you do ANYTHING else get yourself Panty Trust Verified ? whether you have a website or not, this is the main place where buyers can check to see if you are trustworthy and have been proven to be genuine! You also get a nice free web page, in which you have total control over and can amend it to how you like and describe what you sell with links and pictures and info. If you cant set up the page by yourself the Panty Trust Webmaster will amend it for you with whatever you would like to say.

Panty Hog
A fantastic resource, freely available to sellers. Free Forum, free front page news advertising, cheap banner advertising and last but not least a totally FREE to use with NO FEES Auction at www.Pantybid.com

Top lists
Great and fun to start with but due to many other website owners being obsessed with having their site listed at the top and spend all day clicking their own site (or getting their friends to do it) to get higher up the list proves to be ineffective if you don't wish to play the same game. Note: If you wish to play this game your site could be penalized by the top list's Webmaster and may result in your site being deleted from the list.

Rating Sites
These are usually in the same category with top list sites, so don't be surprised if another seller
down rates you just to give the impression to everyone that their site is tops. Again, most webmasters are able to track this and usually take the appropriate actions against those dishonest ones.

Paid Advertising:
Google Ad-words are good, but can prove to be expensive so limit yourself and set it up to run evenings only and perhaps on certain days of the week.
Many adult magazines; Playboy, Forum etc., are also starting to have a "used panties" section where you can advertise for as long as you want.

So now your visits are increasing, but still no buyers. Maybe your site is too professional looking? Maybe you don't explain about how to buy properly and the payment options. Maybe the photos on your site all look like they have come from a variety of different girls. Maybe there is nothing for your browsers to do on your site?

Sometimes you need to make a loss to make a profit and if you do it in a fun way and you enjoy it, then it shouldn't be a problem to give away a few freebies or treats or paying for a little advertising here and there.

Panty selling is a lot of fun and brings in a little pocket money but realistically it won't pay the bills no matter how busy you are (approximately £20.00  24-48 hours work is not a lot of cash!). Your clients will know from your products and your customer care if you are not having real fun! Believe me! So in this instance, I have to say that if you are just in it for the money, don't bother even starting selling your items, because despite what people think, it's actually a lot of hard work and effort in running a site, preparing your orders and answering to your emails every day; and if you don't enjoy what you are doing or your heart isn't in it, then it really isn't worth your while to continue or even start!

Pure patience is the real key when starting up a site!  Don't get too disillusioned when it doesn't take off over night. Give it a good few months and gradually it will pick up and then most likely suddenly "WHAM", you will have a waiting list as long as your arm!  I wish you all the good wishes and best of luck in your venture and I hope that I have given a little insight that may prove helpful to you!

CINDY'S PERSONAL NOTES:
In general, stay polite, helpful and enthusiastic, but never accept abuse from anyone! Only do what you want to do and not what others want you to do –  keep within your personal boundaries. (For example, my personal limit is 3 days continuous panty-wear.  If they want more they may go elsewhere!) Take some time out in making your clients feel special, whether you send them nice emails, extra pics, or enclose little treats with their orders, or even telephone them (if they want that) – because they are special – every single one of them. Don't ever take them for granted!

Don't expect your buyer to just stick with you either, some do but most don't so the number one rule is never hound after your clients or chase up "promising" emails. They have visited your site, seen what you are all about, probably bookmarked it, and its more than likely they will be back.

Cindys' Words of Wisdom:
Stay true to yourself, to your clients and respect other sellers and above all, enjoy your site and have fun running it … the rest will take care of itself and will come naturally!
